I wanna keep my lil hand cannon (Taurus Judge with the 3" chamber) in my Raptor when i get it. My probem is tho, Illinois has a no CCW law (tho i guess its being kicked around in state legislature), so if i were to get pulled over and they found it, well..... ill probably have to get soap on a rope and a chastity belt..... but since were all dishing on what we got, i have my Judge, a Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm, and a SIG P229 .40. id keep the Judge cuz i think in a car jacking situation .410ga shotgun shells with 00 buck at close range with a really short rifled barrel...... not a happy carjacker to say the least! :Jedi:

OK, and yo fellow Illinoisian (go sox, (white not red bird ha)). You guys all peaked my interest so I called my friend who's a trooper. He said as long as the gun is in a case you can carry it in your vehicle and yes the console is considered a case. He gets kinda skitish to start telling me all the facts cause I'm a lil ballzy sometimes and he thinks I'd go off on a spree so he hesitates to tell me stuff so I didnt ask him if it could be loaded or not. I'll work on him for more info or I could just stop being so lazy and google Illinois gun laws LoL.

Cause I can :birgits_tiredcoffee

Ha! It was a play on words but sometimes I get a little too witty for myself. Don't know much about FN but from what I know about you, it must be the best that money can buy.

5.7x28mm... So they created their own cartridge? Do you have a hard time finding ammo for that thing?

Yes, you were being punny and I got it. I have the 9mm because it is small enough to fit in my wife's hand originally. Some stupid maid saw fit to unplug the biometric fingerprint safe on my night stand and after a couple of weeks the safe lost my fingerprints. We are down to using a key right now due to moving and I do not want to redo it twice. So I brought the 9mm with me. I have been keeping it in the gun safe with everything else. I have the Five-seven because a member off the SVTOA Nashville site heard the plant was going to be laid off where he works, so he sold some of his barely used guns. I did him a favor and bought them. Because I can :waytogo:

Ammo is not an issue for the Five-Seven so far. The local gun shop by me carries it (as they should!). I also ordered two cases of it from Cabelas. The only issue I have with it is how fast I go through it. 20-30 round clips. 20 is standard. For 18.00 you can extend any 20 round mag into a 30 round clip. After we move next week, I will be building a reloading bench along with larger gun safes. Then I am going to start stockpiling the 5.7 ammo because the Brady Bill nuts want to ban the gun. From my understanding it will shoot through Kevlar. KN used this cartridge because originally some government wanted to use the same ammo in a pistol that they use in their sub-machine guns. So now you have sub-machine gun ammo in a pistol.

The FN Five Seven and the FN P90 were made to use the same ammo, plus NATO looking for a replacement to the 9x19mm Parabellum. I do belive that the P90 also comes in 9mm so that militaries who still use a 9mm sidearm can have the same ammo for both aswell.

as for them being able to go thru body armor, yes and no.... there are 3 types of ammo for the 5.7x28, hollow point, blue tip and red tip. i might have these mixed up but i think its blue tip is the civilian ammo and not able to go thru body armor, and hollow point neither. red tip is military issue and illegal to posess and IS capable of going thru body armor. again i may have the tip colors mixed up.

ive done a lil bit of research on the Five Seven as it is one i really want.... so part of me dislikes you for having one when i do not...... :flipthebird:

I kept my XD9 in my old truck most of the time. Kept it in between the driver seat and the center console, the holster kept it perfect there. I haven't left a gun in any vehicles I have right now. It seems we have quite a few gun lovers here, maybe we need a thread.
