My truck can't shoot for shit. Actually, it can't shoot at all. No fingers, ya know. And I don't want to be held liable for what happens next when the gun that I left in the truck is stolen.

This thread is kind of silly. Even with a lock box inside, all vehicles are subject to be broken into or stolen. For that reason alone, one should never "store" their weapon in the vehicle. Most "carry" permits that I know of require the weapon to be on your person. That's why it's called a carry permit. Everyone does what they want of course but in my professional life I've seen too many guns go bye-bye forever after the owner decided to keep a gat in the vehicle when they weren't in it at the same time.
