RPG is test fitting a truck now. They had to remove the shock to do the install, so its not an easy as just using a spring compressor.

Wonder why they had to remove the shock. Not enough space to compress the spring enough to move the spring seat up enough to remove the clip and put in the new part?

With the Hassle of getting Gen 1 springs I would not hold my breath.

As for the Baja or RPG mod above. RPG hands down. You do not have to remove the shock and spring to install.

The Baja mod is a two piece clamp. No need to remove the shock or springs. You just need to compress the spring and then install the clamp between the spring and bottom retainer.

The shape of the shock boot would work with their compression tool. Maybe a different compression tool would work??

I would imagine this to be the same for the bajamod version as well.

I like the RPG mod also. I'm just not sure how strong RPG clamp would be on the shock body and if it would move or shift with articulation. It seems like alot of pressure from the spring and the weight of the truck on a clamped aluminum part. The benefit of the perch mod was that the bottom spring retainer was physically restrict from movement by the tolerances of the bottom spring retainer and the "C" ring. The TPG mod seems to rely on tension to hold itself in place. Just my opinion though. As I said before, I'm just glad that options are starting to show up.

Probably to get the original spring retainer off.

RPG mod has the notch built into the Clamp that rides the same place the factory ring rides. So it would be just as strong as the factory setup and is against a flat surface. The Baja unit has multiple surfaces to be machined correctly for it to fit properly.

SVC just released a version like the RPG unit but with a threaded body for multiple adjustment. But at that point why not just get a set of Proper 3.0's with a res and adjustment as well as valving.

Probably to get the original spring retainer off.

I thought the Bottom spring perch was just a snap ring. That would just need the tension off like on the Gen 1 and enough compression on the spring to move the perch up to remove it. The new clamp needs a little more clearance to go on as the perch slide over the lip of the new clamp based on the look of it.

Then again even if RPG had a spring compressor that fit they might have just taken the shocks off on the first set for better access since it is the first and for pics and such.

i would assume, bc these vendors will charge hundreds of dollars for a glorified clamp collar, that they do test and there is room for coil bind? This method could in fact do the same as a traditional leveling kit. It could limit bump bc the coil binds before the shock is actually collapsed.

So, Einstein, what would you charge for something that makes a non-adjustable ************* into something that is actually useful and adjustable? Comments like these are ridiculous. Obviously you have no idea what R&D costs when developing a 'glorified collar' and then actually producing one.

As far as 'traditional leveling kits' are concerned, I believe the detriment in using those has been explained enough that everyone understands why NOT to use those and EXACTY WHY this solution is so much more beneficial.
