What I'm saying is the kits such as daystar shouldn't really change preload. The only thing that is changing is the shock location. Is not using additional spring tension aka preload. Unless I am missing something.

no, you're right. the spacer kits just lift the truck off the top of the shock mount. i'm talking about the perch mods.

Now that I've had my truck a month, I'm beginning to like the leveled trucks over the factory rake. I'll have to do some measuring for the garage door, but this looks like the winning ticket to me!

I'm sure it'll fit, but damn that friggin huge antenna!! I need the Craven Speed antenna, pronto!

My $.02. The middle perch is much better for street use and marginally for off road. It kills the nasty roll and nose dive on the street. Not perfect but much better. Off road it gives you a little better setup for big bumps/hits. FYI, I did the middle perch and didn't need any adjustment to camber or toe in seems some trucks do need a bit of adjustment though. At 15k miles I don't see any abnormal wear on the tires either. From what I've seen the top perch might be a little too much preload on the spring. The trucks I've seen (off road) with it look (to me) like they are bouncing the front up way to fast after a big bump. I'm no expert though. Just my opinion.

I had mid then top perch and put back to stock to add leveling kit which I think is the best because I like the cadillac smooth ride. perch too stiff & bouncy.

the only time you have to worry about something hitting is at full extension from dropping off an obstacle. I can hear mine hit, but i don,t worry because when it is up on jacks the lower swing arm stops before the shock is at max extension, top swing arm is close but not touching. Having said that, i would not risk putting a mid perch on a levelling kit. it is already pushing the upper & lower far down, anymore would make the wheel track too narrow and probably kill alignability.

2" front Levelling kit is the way to go for me. (of course I also have Deavers +1 on block, so the rear is 1" higher too.) 37s going on eventually.:peace:
