When running unloaded and over the road I run 38 fronts and 35 rears, and have since the first week of ownership (mine were delivered with ~50 lbs in each). And those settings might still be a little over inflated, despite matching / being less than what is marked on the door jamb. After 17,000+ miles at those pressures, with regular tire rotations, I am noticing the centers are visibly more warn than the outer edges. The tires are not worn out or anything like that, but they now have enough wear on them to tell a distinct pattern of center wear. Center wear is a classic symptom of over inflation.

I may try to drop another 3 lbs per, to 35 front / 32 rear, and see how the wear is then.

By the way, use a good gauge, don't go by the dash readings. The dash indications are close, but mine are typically a couple pounds off, either way, of what I read on a good gauge. I think the TPMS / dash indication combination is a "close enough" thing for safety purposes, it will tell you when a tire is grossly out of range.

Great informative post!

Out of curiosity I guessing these are your cold pressures? If that’s the case what climate are you finding these pressures good for? Any idea what your operating pressures go up to if at all?

I’m still playing with pressures to get rid of the skipping rear end sensation while unloaded and at the factory suggested pressures but also don’t want to kill dual mileage at the same time.

Yes, those are the cold pressures, checked and adjusted as needed every 2 to 4 weeks.

I live in the desert, so in general that is being used in hot climates, this winter will be my first winter with this truck (March 2018 build purchased in April 2018). I have taken the truck on a 6000 mile trip that covered below sea level to above 10,000 feet, and since purchase have had the truck in temps from 120+ to below freezing.

In my normal use my TPMS shows hot pressures up to about ~42 PSI max on the fronts, ~39 PSI max on the backs, however that is not all the time, and I really don't trust the TPMS indicated pressures to be better than +/- ~3 PSI.

I really don't have much of a "skipping" or "hopping" problem, at least not more than I have had in other trucks. Yes, I do feel it when, for example, going over railroad tracks at speed. While noticeable I do not find it bad. But then I drive a work truck every day, and it does the same thing, so maybe I am just used to it.

V6 EcoScrap was/is a mistake...stay tuned for the 2020 Intel thread...big news coming.

I doubt the Canada plants are privy to any inside information.

As an employee, you best not disclose any non public information.

Regardless, watch it.

Did not own a Gen 1 but did drive and drive in one a lot as my friend owned one for several years. Do not miss the v8. What’s to miss when you have a faster, more HP and TQ engine that’s lighter
