Crash protection removed from Raptor?

I know some people are going to say they don't care. But I do. I value my legs and life.

And I'm sure many others are going to expect to have a truck that would perform as well as the regular f150 in an off-set crash. The Raptor is wider, so it's more likely to get struck by someon distracted by a text who crosses the line.

So instead of complaining, I wonder if there is a way to retrofit the wheel well bars to the Raptor. It seems the f150 screw and scab have these bars in front and behind the wheels. A good bumper would help in front, so could we add the rear bars afterwords?

I have yet to see a Ford engineer say it's an issue. All I see so far in this thread is wild and unfounded speculation.

Let's assume it is an issue, the truck is still better than nearly every other truck out there, with thousands of families risking their lives daily.

Much to do about nothing until proven otherwise.

What are you going to do if you roll it?

so is this only on the extended cab version??? seems odd that super crew has it etc. very odd. but it does seem they are just playing with the crash test people and they know they will never crash test an actual raptor.

Ford originally only put this bar on the F150 Supercrew, but had to add it to the Supercabs as well the following year, in order to get the crash test ratings they wanted. I just assumed that the Raptor would have them.

Regarding the comments about it not being a big deal, it is to me because on the road I travel every day to work, I see people crossing the yellow line constantly. There is one stretch where I have to take evasive maneuvers 2-3 times a week to avoid someone who is looking down at their phone. Given the fact that the Raptor is slightly wider, that is even less margin for error. I realize that it isn't a big deal to some, but to me it is. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to get my raptor, and I will love it with or without the bar, but I would rather have it. It just ****** me off that my dealer didn't tell me that it doesn't have it, because I specifically told him how I was looking forward to having that feature.

How many trucks have you engineered to pass crash tests?

You're making a huge @ssumption this is an issue, without a shred of evidence. There are a ton of differences between the Raptor and the regular F150 that probably make this unnecessary.

- Truck width
- Suspension
- Strengthened frame

I'm pretty sure I trust Ford to engineer a safe vehicle.

I just hope its not the same kind of engineers that ok'ed the Pinto exploding gas tank

If I understand this correctly....

Ford had a supercrew that tested well, but a Scab that didnt, so it had to add front bar safety feature to Scab.

Now it removes bar from both models.

Maybe you are right. What could POSSIBLY be a big deal???
