I work at a ford dealer and the service is awful.they told me the noise is normal that means they don't know what it is.so I'm going to another dealer. It's define the shocks and I would gladly replace them with another brand.
Have you have the service department send in a contact to hotline? Engineering won't know there's an issue unless it gets reported, either through hotline contacts or warranty claims.

Not to be a doomsayer and all, but I ran across this earlier today and I know this is not apples to apples but in the interest of sharing, I draw your attention to https://performanceparts.ford.com/download/PDFS/2020FPPcatalog.pdf

Approximately page 70:
’17-’18 Fox race series front and rear suspension upgrade

“NOTE: The rear shocks may produce a slight clicking sound on jounce / rebound. This is normal and not normally audible inside the cab of the vehicle."

Maybe there is some level of normal to the noise y’all are hearing or clunking as it’s been referred to as.

New member here. Picked-up 21 CO 35 less than two weeks ago. Hearing clunk on front drivers side only. I can also feel it on the floor board. Feels like something is loose. Noise is worse over minor road bumps or ripples. Super annoying! My service advisor drove and confirmed the clunk. He doesn't believe it's the shock and deferring to master technician to diagnose during upcoming appointment. I only have 300 miles on the odometer. Now regretting trading my perfect Gen 2 Avalanche for this nightmare. Never heard/felt clunk on Gen 2. I'll provide updates after the appointment.

Read every single post on this thread....picked up my gen3 this weekend and it's clunking.

Driving it, it feels like the front is the culprit(or at least the main one) but doing the tailgate jump test it is noticeable in the rear. Placing your hand on the shock body itself while jumping on the rear seems to confirm that the rear shocks are 'clunking', it may be the internal bypass but would be the most heavy weighted sounding/feeling bypass I have ever seen. So, I pulled both rear shocks and jumped on it. Clunking was gone in the rear so I drove it. Honestly I was playing mind games on myself initially, trying to confirm that it was the rear, but it's not. The rear may also 'clunk' but the majority of it is/was still coming from the front. I felt like it was more noticeable clunk on the passenger side front. Pulled the sway bar link, no change at all in clunk but definitely appears that my passenger front is the main problem. I put a wrench or socket on just about everything I could get too, all tight.

I'm at a loss but still feel like it's in the shocks themselves. I may reach out to Ford but I for sure plan to call Fox tomorrow and see where I can get. Anyone got a number to a person at Fox that might actually help? I'll pull the coil-overs and the shocks and overnight them to Fox if they think they can resolve the issue.

It is both front struts and rear shocks. My gen2 had a similar noise just not as pronounced. Mine seems to be getting a little less more i drive it.

Has anyone had the clunk and then installed some sort of leveling kit in the front? Did the clunk go away?

So the shocks do "clunk", but are most likely NOT the cause of the noise we're hearing and feeling in the cab. This brings us back to the driveshaft wiggle theory. In any event it seems like this will take quite awhile to resolve since Ford has to go through the "its normal>its the rear shocks>its the front shocks>its normal>its the sway bar links>its normal" process before finding the root cause and providing a permanent fix.

Maybe someone could video this ‘driveshaft wiggle’ and maybe we get a willing Jen Too owner to check for similar behavior? It would seem to reason that if the play is verifiable on Jen Too trucks as well as Jen Tres, but only the latter has the clunk you could dispense with DWT(driveshaft wiggle theory).
