Need for where I drive off road. It is how the loggers communicate and each zone has a channel to keep safe while exploring.

I mounted my antenna in the stake hole with a quick disconnect because I wanted a clean looking install. It was a bit of a pain in the ass to work in that small space, but I got it done and was happy with the results. When I didn’t need the antenna, which was most of the time, it lived in my bed and the hole was covered.

Unfortunately, my retrax cover now covers half the stake pocket so this no longer works. Now I’m trying to work out a t track mount for the retrax, but I’ll probably go to a no ground plane antenna for that setup.

Thanks, I checked that out, but the way I off-road there are logging zones that the logging trucks communicate on and each zone has a different channel. You announce yourself as being in that zone and so you don’t meet head on with a fully loaded truck. Those do look cool.

This is what I ended up doing. I’ve got a headache rack so mounted the antenna on there, but had to go on the passenger side cuz I was getting real bad SWR’s on the driver’s side. I only need the CB for tractors at the ranch and off road convoy so I didn’t chase a powerful setup. My required reach is a half mile tops, but testing it, it reaches about 2 miles.

Sweet! I think I spotted the secret to your success working in tight places. Tools needed for the install: Drill, various sockets, ratchet, whiskey, combo wrenches, pliers.

Question I've never found a certain answer to: is there a single radio out there that supports both amateur and CB bands? Pretty sure the answer is no due to fundamental incompatibility.
