Plus 10 on the britax. This was my setup when both were small. I have a scab and the girls had plenty of room. Now my oldest is in a booster behind the passenger seat

Hard to see from the pic, but plenty of legroom even with a Scab. One thing, I can't get my back headrest out, so the backrest on the booster was not flush with the back bench seat, resulting in a forward pitch in her seating position. How the heck do you take the headrests out of the back bench seats?

@KaiserM715, do you have infant car seats in your raptor? How do they fit being a SCAB? Where do you have them mounted? - BTW I will be in your situation in about 5 months....





Which model Britax did you go with?

Wife doesn't remember which model it was. Probably a new model now anyway since that was almost 7 years ago for that one. We replaced it a while back when she got older. The current one is not as bulky as the infant one. This one is good for up to 85# and allows use of 5 point harness up to 65# or until too tall for it. They make awesome car seats. She also suggested keeping an eye out for sales on diapers.com while you searching. Apparently they are one of the few places that ever puts Britax on sale. One thing that convinced her to buy a Britax was they have the ability to keep the little ones rear-facing for a long time. Even though it is more convenient once the kiddo is forward facing they are safer rear facing for as long as possible.

Wow, that is a thing of beauty. Three car seats across. Not sure how many other vehicles can fit three car seats in one row. Part of the selling features that my wife liked. We had two at the time I pirchased my raptor, but were planning on three. Something her A-6 could not accommodate. Alas, we only have two so we never had need for a the Raptors triple car seat capability. The one capability of the Raptor I fear will never be used. Good on you BubbaJr

Looks great BubbaJr....I have a booster for my 6 year old girl, a full size Minnie Mouse infant seat for my 14 month girl, and our 10 year old boy gets the passenger window side when the wife boots him from the front seat. Glad I'm not the only Raptor Screw on the planet running 3 deep in the cab.

I have used a Graco SnugRide 32 bucket seat (in the middle), a Sunshine Kids (now Diono) Radian XT (forward facing only, in the middle) and an Evenflo Amp (in the middle). The only thing that I would consider a fitment issue is that my son, age 5, rests his feet on the back of the center console when he sits in the Radian. We used the center seat belt as we felt the angle was too great to use the latch anchors on either side (latch anchors are setup for straight pull, not angled).

We have not tried getting the twins in the truck yet (Chicco KeyFit 30 bucket seats), but I test fit them and didn't see any issues, three across is definitely doable. As a note, this would be very dependent on your height. I'm 5'10", it works for me. Won't work for BigJ... YMMV...

As far as a seat recommendation goes, we really like the bucket seats for as long as possible. If they are asleep, they can go in and out without being woken up. The Chicco KeyFit comes recommended from several places and the fit, finish and ease of install on the base was all much better than the Graco we had previously. There are also cheap stroller frames that the seat can drop into (Joovy Roo or Roo II for doubles are better than the Baby Trend brand). I am also a big fan of the Diono Radian. They can work both rear and forward facing. They also fold and fit into an optional travel bag to fly as checked baggage. One feature that really sold us on them is that they have a steel frame (vs plastic) which reduces the bulk. It would be much more difficult to get three forward facing Britax (or similar) seats in the back seat due to the extra bulk from the plastic. We currently have 3 across in the G8 and that would not work with a bulkier seat. The new version of the seat I have is the RXT, which has been updated to work as a booster with a weight range of 5 - 120lbs. Here is a good review that shows most of the things I mentioned:

Listen to rookie and also buy a nice one, don't get the cheap crappy ones..

Also if you only have one kid put him in the middle I learned this the hard way, I put my first child on the drivers side years ago in my moms car on or way to file for divorce from my first wife lol,, anyways I put him there so I could set next to him and calm him,, he was only 2m. Anyways I had just taken my seatbelt off to get something from his diaper bag and BAM we got T-***** sending the suv into a roll, we were hit on the side my son was on but my mom got most of the impact sending her to the hospital. It was a crazy ride for me with no seatbelt lol I wedged myself with my hands on the roof and feet on the ground until it stopped rolling. My son was fine he was in a very nice car seat (threw it away after the wreck,) I didn't get a scratch but my poor mom got a good Head injury. We were in a Chevy suv equinox or something like that.

Lol, and the seat covers,, best investment I have 3 in the raptor and another 3 in the Mercedes, they each have dedicated car seats.

Passenger side rear to take advantage of the built in anchors. I'm glad ford has the child seat anchors. The super duty doesn't come with them.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We're having twins and pursuing adoption, so three across is what we'll have in the next couple years. My Raptor is a Scab, Yukon's is a Screw. Here is another question, buy 2 seats and move them if we take the other truck or buy 4 so we don't have to deal with switching them over?

I personally would vote for seats for each Raptor. We have always had seats in both of ours. You never know when it might be handy. Plus moving and properly installing car seats isn't a super quick process especially with the little ones hanging out waiting. If you add in having to move the seats outside if it happens to be raining and it is no fun at all.
