I would not worry about it at all. If the tech identifies an issue with a component during removal or installation, he can replace the affected component per the SSM and charge it out as necessary under warranty along with any additional labor.

I don't doubt it. However, if it was a supplier issue, the supplier will be the party footing the majority of the bill.

Completely understandable. My advice is always do as much research as you can. Word of mouth, online reviews, etc. are invaluable. You can even reach out to the Service Manager of the dealership and gauge his or her response to your concerns. Many dealership personnel are accustomed to dealing with customers who are completely unreasonable and ridiculous, which is how they become jaded just as many other retail businesses do. If you have a reasonable concern or request (keep my Ford Performance vehicle inside overnight, have a certified/experienced technician perform the work, etc) they are much more likely to accommodate you.

If you bought the truck from them, leverage that advantage as much as possible. Do you have them perform your maintenance? That's a big thing with some dealers, even if they aren't making money on the service they consider you a patron.

I totally get that but hopefully your dealership has done enough of them by now to have the process down. That’s one reason why I’ve been trying to wait, a) make sure the symptoms are prevalent enough to be an easy diagnosis b) ensure my dealership has dealt with a handful before tackling mine c) give Ford enough time to provide dealserships with a proper fix solution.

At least your dealership has acknowledged the issue and is going to proceed with a repair. I’m more nervous about my warranty running out before it’s fixed properly.

Hey did you figure this out and get it fixed? I have the exact same issues.
