You guys should just make them yourself. Seems easy enough. I mean you guys are all sitting here telling us how quickly someone that had a broken back and surgery should be able to make these so get at it!

@Jme I think we all know what you meant and just about everybody on the forum has experience with Josh. We all know he's a good dude.
Now, on to Calder - I noticed he was on Facebook the other night, so I sent him a PM over there asking about how he was doing. He said his recovery was coming along fine.
Last night I noticed that he was on there again, so I sent him a PM telling him that a few guys were looking for him and that it would be a good idea to at least answer them and let them know what is going on. I then noticed that he immediately signed off, but then returned about an hour later. Whatever, he knows that he has people wondering.....
He seems like a good guy, and has got my products out to me pretty quickly in the past. Like mentioned previously, his stuff is pretty damn good quality. I have spoke to him several times about maybe hiring a helper to get through his orders a little quicker. "Hard to train, hard to manage", etc. I have spoke to him about at least contacting each of his customers with issues and updating them regularly. "Yeah, I'll do that tonight as soon as I get these orders done". I don't get it, he seems to want to do the right thing, but just won't do it.
I think some of it may be that he is young and inexperienced dealing with conflict. And there is a lot of it right now. Maybe a little embarrassed and worried about his reputation. Kids handle that kind of thing differently and some rarely handle it correctly.
My advice - get on Facebook and watch for him. When you see that he is on, send him a message. Eventually he'll get the idea that you aren't going away and answer you.
Good luck.....
just an FYI, I actually received an email from Calder last night... I'll preface it by saying that anyone that owns a business can understand delays / issues, especially with custom products. the lone piece of advice I'd give to him is being honest and communicating with your customers will go a LONG way in making them happy and retaining them. It's a lot easier to ignore calls/texts/emails when you don't have good news for the person trying to contact you and it takes experience to realize that that's not the right way to run your business if you want to be successful.
Here's the email that I received... hopefully it's true and others will see their orders soon as well.
"I am so sorry for your wait time buddy. I don't like doing business this way but I haven't had a choice. I completely changed up my production process which took several weeks of experimenting with different paint companies and drying times. I perfected it a couple weeks ago but I've been busy with walk-in customers purchasing screen printed shirts and haven't had much time to work on build plates. I've already painted the SVT and I'm about to clear coat the plate. Wet sanding and buffing will have to wait until Monday so that the paint has time to fully cure. Your plate will be going out on Tuesday.
I really appreciate your patience."
Just seems like a lot of hysteria over a what, $20-$25 build plate? I'd just ask for a refund at this point. Posting his emails, requesting tracking and reaching out to him on Facebook doesn't seem to be working. Cut your losses, request a refund or open a case with PayPal. I wouldn't be getting bent the hell out of shape over something that is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. That and @RDFTS already posted a link to another company making build plates.

We ordered two build plates.... I guess the waiting game is a tough one....
I strongly recommend you take the time to read what people are writing before making smartass remarks....it's nothing to do with a broken back and everything to do with poor communication, and outright lying.
Up until the other day I've only communicated with his via facebook....when he first told me about his injury I was, like anyone would, concerned for him and told him to get well...I waited 7 weeks before asking him how he was doing and what the status was...at which time he said he was working on it as we spoke and it would be shipped out later that day! Great! another 4 weeks went by and nothing, so I asked him and he gave me a line about changing paint dealers, etc and that he was sorry and would have it out asap....another 3 weeks and nothing....when I asked him about a refund he again apologized, said he was in Michigan with family and would get to it as soon as he got back....at that point I just gave up...if I get it whatever, I was going to have him do headrest for me, but that won't happen......It wasn't a lot of money, it was the principle. I run an Aviation Training company and would be out of business if I did those things in no time.
I received an unsolicited email from him 2 weeks ago apologizing (again) saying it would be sent out the following Tuesday...SPOILER ALERT: I haven't gotten anything..

I had kid faster.... lolI've read everything over and over and I think you all got what you deserve. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Anyone that put an order in with him and is shocked they didn't receive it in a "timely" manner is delusional. I don't think Birdman has ever kicked a vendor off, so it shows how long this has been happening. But hey, I understand...everyone needs their lame plates to complete their ride. What are you going to do with your life without them for that long?!??
Be happy you aren't waiting on an oil cooler clamp from Ford. I'd bet I'd get a build plate from Calder before Ford sends that clamp to me.
