I think I'm more shocked that you ordered a 14 in August and was willing to pay $3k over MSRP. Also, did you tell the dealer upfront that you wouldn't pick the truck up for over 2 months after delivery.....that in itself is REALLY odd.
Either way they sound shady.

Yea my price was 55k and msrp was 57.5k I would have never agreed to an over MSRP sale that early in the year. And as Mogo said the shmoe that bought it paid 60.5k or so I was told by the salesman. As for telling them yea I told them at the time of purchase that I would be tying this into a business trip that was in february, they were understandable uncomfortable with that so we came to an agreement on me coming in to get it January 14th I bought plane tickets and had to send them the itinerary as a condition of the purchase agreement.

Have fun with your new Raptor once you get it! I sold cars back in the early 90's in a smaller city and had an excellent management team. Top to bottom. To prevent the shady sales tactics they would always remind us of the customers "sphere of influence." Treat the customer right and they tell everyone they know what a great experience they had. Treat them unfairly and the customer tells everyone they know to never shop at the dealership. After you pick up your Raptor, give the selling dealership some good props.

That's bs but in all your going to get your truck for less and gave business to someone who appreciates it. An honest dealer not many still left.

Wow. I've never heard something as bad as that. I agree with the other guys, keep sharing your story, and let mother ford know about it. They would not approve of this behavior. All this trouble just to make a couple extra thousand. Was it worth it for them?

As of this evening the customer service manager at Ford was going to contact my new dealer to "assist" in the sale of my raptor. I take this as Ford wants to clear this mark against their name. I also think that the sales manager at the old dealer is not going to be sitting down very easy for a few days. When this deal with the new place goes through I will update everyone and will sing their praises to anyone who will listen. They were appalled to hear what had happened and vowed to make it right even if it wasn't their fault. I'm not kidding when I say they have bent over backwards and pulled out all the stops so far to do this deal. Updates will come when I have more news to add. Still waiting to hear if I get my airfare back from the dealer in colorado. :jester:

To me, it seems that the dealerships are just middle-men who get to skim a little bit off the top for no particular good reason. And in fact, many of the sales commission-based pay plans seem to simply incentivise the salesman to **** you over for as much money as he can, rather than sell the unit

Yup, this is very true. That's why newer companies like Tesla have only company-owned stores. They control the customer relationship directly and they set the price everyone pays nationally.

The dealership lobby (yes, it does exist) is fighting this model, so that's why Tesla doesn't have stores in every state.

So you had to re-order and now wait once again? I sure hope they put your truck as priority .1 (not 1) to get it first in line to get this done. Shoot, I am probably putting my foot in my mouth but as far as I am concerned, I would have no problem letting your raptor build to go in front of mine.........what the hell did I just do....

Careful what you wish for. No in all honesty I don't really want to jump anyone in line. The fact that I was so early in the order que was simply due to the fact I was all fired up to order a 13 until I started looking into the differences in the SE and held off. As I told my dealer it's not like if I have to wait a bit longer i'm going to burst into flames or drown, and the longer I wait the more my down payment becomes. All this said if Ford sees this i'm not saying put me off till August!

Got you! I must have misread that first post on the 3k over. While I can see why a dealership was hesitant to hold a vehicle for 2 months they should have honored the deal they made. The smart thing to do would have been to place an order for an in stock one before yours. I have been screwed by a dealer before so I feel your pain. I hope you have better luck with your next dealership. I’m sure Ford will rush this build.
