Brake mods

You might consider upgrading the brake lines and fluid first and see how that feels. For me I was happy with the improvement. Next on my list may be pads. Stock Rotors are not too expense so if we tear up a set it wont kill me. To be honest the stock setup with the line upgrade has done really well for me.

My buddy Wiz did the caliper/disk upgrade route, but to get them to clear he switched to 18" wheels. For me, doing a fair amount of offroading, I really like the tire choices I have at 17" and would not go that route. Not sure of what your caliper/disk choices are if you stick with the 17" wheels.

The stock calipers barley clear the Method 17s" on the front..

Does anyone think the upgrade lines might cause an issue with the EBC?

Jason Dunham DDG109 havent checked in yet. Just got that butter bar. Start work Monday but at BDOC for 2 months. Essentially I have the summer off before I hit my ship and have the XO kicking my ass.

You a helo guy I am assuming? Wanted to fly but the powers to be wanted me to be a nuke. Meh what can you do...

Yea dude, I was lucky. Very lucky cause I graduated 900 something outta there too. Thus I was clearly not smart enough to be a nuke, but I do admit their money bonuses are phenomenal. Swos are just so cutthroat, try to fight that as long as possible.

I would assume the oil is not expanding the hose thair for putting all pressure to the calipers pads.

The rubber brake lines move and flex more than the stainless. Part of the reason for a firm brake feel with the stainless.

Yea I kind of got shafted but in the long run I think I will be better for it. The money is pretty good cant wait to see it lol. The rubber brake lines move and flex more than the stainless. Part of the reason for a firm brake feel with the stainless.


Brakes are a hydrolic system in the sense that it is using an incompressable fluid under pressure to create a force on the caliper which squeezes the rotor and thus slows a vehicle down.

The issue of brake fade can be caused by a few things but one of the biggest reasons is that the stock lines are made of a hard rubber which under heavy stress/ load/ force you name your word expands. Well this is really bad since you are using pressure in your brake lines to stop you, the more the line expands the less force is actually getting to the caliper which is why you feel your brake feel 'spongy' when you mash it or if you are using it alot off roading.

By adding stainless steel brake lines you are making the lines in which your brake fluid travels much stronger and less prone to expansion thus giving you all of the pressure going to the caliper and not lost in the expansion of the line itself.
