It's not native 12volt. That black box attached to it is the inverter and the cause of the el tape burning up (or at least the wiring anyway).

The best method I've seen so far is to use a Drexel to cut a hole behind the plastic vent, get some weather proof led strips and backlight the hole with those. That's my plan. I got the stuff, just haven't gotten to it yet.

i did mine in rgb without cutting

Got a howto? It's raining today so I was thinking about doing this. I'm willing to entertain other methods. ;)

(truth be told... I'm not overly against cutting. If I majorly horse it up, then I have an even more valid excuse to get some Glassworx fenders! hahaha)

unfortunately not. i havent put anything together. pics are on some random sd card somewhere and the only ones i have are a couple completed ones on my tablet
