Makes you wonder if we have achieved the pinnacle of combustion engine technology. Most of the old and new race car technology is now in our pick-up trucks. Whats next? I purchased a new 1990 Infiniti Q45 and at the time it had variable valve timing which was fascinating then, now it's nothing.

I’d say no. Mazda has a gasoline engine that runs off compression ignition. Infiniti recently debuted its variable compression engines. I think there’s a lot of progress left out there.
