So, built on or before 3/12/11... That means that a truck built on 4/21/11 already would have the new driveshaft?

from what I know (take it or leave it) the driveshaft includes a new, tighter tolerance slip yoke (narrower ID) already mounted to what I assume is the same driveshaft.

Why they do it like that, I have no clue. maybe its to insure balance, maybe its to make the swap .4 hours and get em back on the road, maybe its to make sure its easy enough a Ford tech can do the swap without me having to help.

Mine should be in Friday if all goes well.

Sweet.....

My dealer is going to make getting this fixed anything but convenient. I was hoping to see if we could just coordinate the fix with my next oil change. I found that my original service advisor is gone (don't know if he quit or got fired) but, the person who replaced him had no idea what I was talking about when I refered to the clunk. Handed her a copy of the TSB and my VIN number. She pulls the OASIS data and it says there are no "active campaigns" or recalls on my truck and that she'll have to ask around about the TSB.

She finds a manager who says, "Yup...We've already done three or four of them. Just write it up as a clunk." Then she makes another call to some guy named Bob who says he doesn't have the part in stock. I'd just told her I figured she'd need to order the part and I was hoping to do it when I bring the truck in for its next service. But then she then proceeds to tell me I've got to bring the truck in to let them look at it AGAIN before they can decide whether or not to order the part. Should I just find another dealer handle service on my truck going forward?

YES. She's obviously new to the service advisor role so she's probably trying to be all by the book about stuff....not realizing it's making things inconvenient for the customer. Take her a copy of the TSB and tell them to order the part and once it's in, to make the appointment and get it done. It shouldn't take but a bit to do but they may have a full schedule that day, so don't talke it personal if they can't get it done in an hour. Advise her or the service manager that you know this is a problem and that you've put up with it long enough so if they don't want to help, you'll take your business elsewhere.

Dealers HATE forums because its forums like this that educate the dealer as to the work they are supposed to do. I've been on forums for 15 years. I have NEVER not known the problem going to a dealer when I arrived.

Word of mouth is a powerful thing, I wouldn't doubt for a second the "clunk" was solved quickly due to the media we use today with these forums, YouTube, etc.

Welcome to the new world, Mr. Dealer.

Ok, so my SCAB was built on 3-12-11. Is there any way to tell if I have the new vs old?

Anybody got a picture of old vs new shaft?

Thanks
