After you change a tune how many miles do you have to drive before you can get the truck inspected? I tried this weekend and the tech told me he was getting incomplete data on four areas of the test

Most recommend at least 100 miles after returning to stock.

Do you know which area's?


And when you change Tunes it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery for a few minutes roughly five to ten minutes.
This will force a new learning cycle for both Fuel Trims and Transmission strategies, then all you need to do is drive a minimum of 50 miles.
But more couldn't hurt.
It's actually 300miles for a complete transmission cycle and 50 miles for the fuel trims.

I don't drive my truck a great deal but since I installed the 91 Octane tune up, my truck shift cycles at 40MPH under light throttle. Several of the shifts seem to flare and the truck as of right now is not much fun to drive. This is not a slam 5 Star thread but trying to understand why my new truck exhibits issues that others are not. I have put about 1K miles on it since I installed the tuner but I can't continue with it like this. The truck has no issues when the stock tune up is installed.

I have been traveling for work but I will also be contacting 5 Star to let them know what the issue is. No other mods to this truck as far as engine but I do have 35 Wildpeaks on it.

I have similar issues with my 91 octance 5 star tune as well. Also, if the outside temperature is cold (20's and below) it really seems to exaggerate the issue. I also have a pretty harsh first to second gear shift when going WOT. I haven't contacted Mike yet, but depending on the OP's results, will probably end up doing so. Good luck, and let us know what you get worked out.

but i have noticed my wot is extremely hard and can cause my truck to hesitate but i am not sure if thats my tranny or the tune

Send Mike an email. I run the 93 performance tune told him that I thought the shifts at full throttle were hard and I was concerned about the drivetrain. He suggested adding some torque management back into the tune. Within 1 hour he had sent the new tune 93 performance with some torque management added back in.

Now the shifts are factory smooth at WOT but the power doesn't drop off quite as bad stock. I feel like it's a trade off and everything else about the tune is PERFECT. I'd rather have a little slower shifts and increased drive train life. The tune is still the best mod I've done to the truck!

I am the idiot here. I just looked at the email I sent him, and I guess I deleted most of what I wrote before I sent it somehow when I was on my iPhone! **** me. The guys's probably scratching his head trying to figure out what the hell I'm talking about. You're right on emails not always working!:slap:

Everyone should read the above before they even purchase a tune. Great info for the folks new to tunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. I just sent him one. I've needed to send him an e-mail for quite some time, but I guess I just needed someone to encourage me to do so. :Big Laugh:
