I'm 2000km into my new '24 R. Two road trips on mountain highways so far.

The transmission is not downshifting in Sport or Tow modes unless I manually downshift gears or give it some gas.
It is like the automatic downshift for engine braking is disabled.
I was towing a car trailer last weekend and was continuously on the brakes or manually downshifting.

First pic from this morning: Downhill, hard on the brakes, in Tow Mode. The transmission is in 8th gear and does not gear down.

The second picture shows the truck going downhill through a corner, hard on the brakes, in Sport Mode. The transmission is still in 10th gear!!!

Is this a programming issue, or did Ford disable engine braking while the motor is in break-in?

I don't remember my '19 or '22 behaving like this while new.

I'm about 4000 km on the truck now.

Still no active downshifting under braking in any mode. I have to give the truck gas or paddle to downshift above near idle.

It's strange. I can be fully loaded and hard on the brakes in Tow/Haul, and it will not downshift until the motor drops below 1500 RPM.
But, if I give just the lightest touch of the throttle, it will drop down several gears and hold it fine.

This truck would absolutely fail any towing test. There is something wrong with the transmission programming.

It's a minor quirk on the world's awesomest truck, but it really bugs me.
