There is a very vocal minority on this forum that screams for Baja-style, no-frills SCABs. That group is not representative of who will actually purchase the Raptor R.

While I'm not very vocal about it. I would be interested in a base model 800A SCAB Raptor R if it was offered. I know it won't be so I don't obsess over it.

The Hellcat engine seems to not have any negative press. It's a robust iron block that can take more boost than stock. Ford's DOHC engines haven't faired so well. The FPC 5.2 in particular is known to consume oil badly and has shit the bed many many times. The Roadrunner engine in the Boss 302 was the last great coyote based engine Ford has made. Time will tell with the GT500 motor, but the Hellcat motor has around for a while now, FCA has put it in all kinds of vehicles in the last years and it's been proven to be reliable for the most part.

Am I the only one who thinks the R is going to be the powerboost version of the raptor? Bump the electric motor power up and bump hp in the HO ecoboost. This is what many of the super car manufacturers have been moving to. It would get way better fuel economy than a TRX and could keep the weight better distributed with instant electric motor power. They've already solved the only non superficial issue people had with the ecoboost with the active exhaust. Many thought it was a v8 and were surprised when it turned out to be an ecoboost based on the exhaust note.

Sounds possible but Ford did say "the V8 is coming" so I guess only time will tell.

Not a chance. There are probably a decent number of people willing to pay a premium for V8 power over the base Raptor.

There are probably very, very FEW people willing to pay a premium for V8 power AND all of that other stuff over the base Raptor.

A nicely-appointed TRX is about 85k, and Ford will need to keep it in that range if they want to be competitive.

*85k is a pipe dream! That motor/tranny will cost 15-25k extra not to count dealer markups.....A loaded Gen3 will be 85k....
