The Hellcat engine seems to not have any negative press. It's a robust iron block that can take more boost than stock. Ford's DOHC engines haven't faired so well. The FPC 5.2 in particular is known to consume oil badly and has shit the bed many many times. The Roadrunner engine in the Boss 302 was the last great coyote based engine Ford has made. Time will tell with the GT500 motor, but the Hellcat motor has around for a while now, FCA has put it in all kinds of vehicles in the last years and it's been proven to be reliable for the most part.

I think the 5.2L Voodoo is an outlier here. You can’t base all of the current Coyote offers against the short comings of one motor, which was highly experimental in of itself. There’s plenty of blown regular 5Ls out there making reliable power with just bolt on kits. They’re just as reliable as Stellantis offerings, even though they have significantly less OEM development.

you are the only one. Powerboost adds like 600 pounds and reduces the gas tank size.

Raptor R will be the V8 supercharged.

This. If they were going to do a powerboost Raptor, then it wouldn't take them a year to test and get it to market. Besides, the active exhaust is unlikely to satisfy those wanting a V8. All it's really going to do is satisfy those who don't care about V8 noises, but still want to get the street cred for V8 noises.

Of course, I'm just guessing here, since I haven't heard it in person yet. However, I do think the V8 crowd will say they can hear a difference and just aren't satisfied.

I personally think the testing of the V8 in the Raptor R is for the trans. The V8 in the GT500 runs a double clutch trans and the V8 in the Raptor R will use the 10speed (I assume).

Can the current 10 speed handle 700+ HP?

Just the regular Gen 3 will outperform the TRX in the desert, so I can't understand your logic about the R model. The R model will have to be way over the top of a Gen 3 or why even build one?

Just because Ford can build a better truck does not mean it makes financial sense to.

The higher the pricetag, the smaller the customer base. The more offroad flavor, the smaller the customer base.

Yes, Ford can put a rollcage, and 37s, and five-point harnesses, and a V8 in the Raptor R. And almost no one will buy it.

The vast, vast majority of Raptor owners prioritize interior luxury, straight-line speed, and on-road handling over offroad capability.

That is the same market of people who will buy the Raptor R, and therefore how Ford must make decisions.

Lets see if it even gets built and then we can check score cards, lmao.

Not sure what you mean by more offroad flavor, offroad capability, even at the expense of on road capability and interior comfort, is very popular right now. Just look at the popularity of Jeep Wranglers. And although I think the Bronco will be better, it ain't going to be that much better.

If you're implying the kind of offroad flavor that makes it down right difficult or illegal to drive on road, then I agree. There are not that many that want a full size offroad vehicle that has to be towed to the offroad site. And those that do are probably happy to customize/build their own vehicle.

The Raptor R will be for the ppl who don’t give two ***** about off road and only care about bragging rights to HP and 0-60 times. The R should stand for Road as I am sure it will be more suited for the pavement princess crowd.

The TRX is a glorified pavement princess and ppl are wanting the Raptor to be the same all so the Raptor can beat the TRX at something it was never meant to be but because it has a V8 now it’s the new king lol...... it’s funny how naive most buyers of this segment are.
