probably a silly question but ..... When I put the car into SPORT mode it switches to 2 wheel drive. Anyway to stop that?

You will have to manually place it in 4A.

Concern is the front diff and rear breaking parts on the hard ground without any wheel spin... they warn against it in the manual

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

No. Ford programmed this into the computer and there’s not tailoring it. If you want sport and another transfer case mode, change drive mode first, then transfer case.

At one time, NavTV had a module that purported to preserve the last drive mode, so if you shut down in sport, you started back up in sport instead of the lazy ‘normal’ mode.
Unfortunately they had some difficulty with it and pulled it.

Lots of 'Sport Mode' threads, this one being most recent, thought I'd ask a Noob Q. '19 SCrew, 2 months, ~3k miles. Every time I start it up, I notice it indicates I'm in Sport Mode, I don't notice any difference when manually selecting Normal each time I start it up. I would think Normal should be default. Anyone know if this is a setting issue or what the possibilities are? Working on getting the MPG better than 16 - no cost effective difference between '89 and '93 fuel.

Any help for the Noob here?

That's strange; my '19 starts up in Normal mode regardless of whatever mode I was in when I shut it down.

Mine always starts in Normal Mode.

Better MPG, you can try a lil more air in the Tires (depending what's in them now), but the ride is gonna get firm real quick if you go this route.

If this is true, you’ve found the Missing Link(™) !

To be clear, if you swap to ‘normal’ and then shut down the truck via key or button, once you restart, the truck reverts to sport?

Interested in selling? ;-)

Sport doesn’t inhibit your economy on highway driving, only speeds below about 50. Obviously if that’s where the majority of your driving is I could see where this would be an issue but I’d love to have the Rap retain the last drive mode I had selected, or failing that, default to sport mode.

I always figured Baja mode was probably the better version of Sport mode for off-road applications. I only use Sport mode on road or if I want to be able to break the back end loose on dirt roads.

It absolutely is, for numerous reasons. Tho, I've found you can easily break the rear loose in Baja 4H even with the diff unlocked.

sadly, I must report that I've elected myself the least informed Noob in the forum...

Did a little playing around and discovered the "Sport" mode I was seeing was related to steering wheel feel and not the actual mode itself. Hopefully, I've at least made a few folks laugh at my exposed learning curve.
