Hey Guys,

My local dealer has a 2018 raptor still on the lot. It is still new never sold. I have been trying to negotiate with them as I kind of prefer the full leather interior of the 2018's. Has anyone encountered this before with a Raptor on the lot thats 2 model years old (soon to be 3)? What would you expect to pay below sticker on one? They are offering me 3K below sticker. There are 2019's in my area being offered for 6k below sticker. I thought this would be a good negotiating point to get a great deal on a new raptor but they wont budge below the 3K mark. What do you guys think?

Thanks Guys!

It would seem you have about the strongest negotiating position you could want. Odd that they won't move a little to unload an '18??

Thats what I am saying. I cannot believe they wont budge price. I literally sent them the quote I got for a 2019. I was offered 24K for my trade and 6K off sticker for a 2019 with better options. They said the best they can do is 3300 off sticker and 24k trade. I figure with the given pandemic i can just sit and let them get desperate. I am also curious if anyone has ever heard of a raptor being on the lot for that long. Build date on this one is 10/20/2018

Sitting is not good for any vehicle, things don't get lubricated, and I'm not just taking about the engine. A/C for example, the refrigerant IS the lube so if it's not run periodically, o rings and seals tend to fail/dry out/crack. If it's me, I'm not budging to pay anywhere near what they're asking and I'm getting an extended warranty tossed into the deal to CYA.

I like your thinking and yes I agree. I offered them 9K under sticker and they balked at that. Time is my friend though they wont be selling anything right now.

Unfortunately, you’re probably dealing with a stealership that purchased the ’18 from an ethical dealer who was selling at or close to MSRP, and your stealership probably marked it up several thousand over MSRP. They likely actually paid somewhere between what dealers normally pay from Ford and MSRP somewhere. NO, they did not pay MSRP to another dealer, but they could have paid over invoice.

They very likely got greedy and this truck was left unwanted by the masses. Now they don’t want to eat the loss.
Don’t pay it.

Offer them something like the going rate for a used ’18 and add back in the mileage offset for an average mileage truck. if they won’t budge, move on with life.

I agree with you as well. I also read there a chance with trucks left over that long that the dealers marked them as sold to FORD and they could have the warranty started based on that date and not a real sale date. I dont mind the cloth bolsters on the 19's and 20's. I just got a quote for 10k off a 2019 in Maine (4 hours from me). Truck is 802a, moonroof, tech package, forged wheels, carbon, tailgate step, spray in bed liner, heated rear seats, and NO GRAPHICS (THANK GOD). If they can give me a good trade in offer ill be making a drive up to maine this weekend! Its literally every option and only the options I spec when i build them online

Ask to see the invoice. Any decent dealer usually will show you. That's what the dealer pays. Bottom left hand corner you'll see HB with a number underneath, which is their hold back. Tell them you'll pay invoice. As mentioned, I would be worried about seals, tires and things like that.

Hard to give advice as we need to know the MSRP, trim level plus any other options.
