Sitting is not good for any vehicle, things don't get lubricated, and I'm not just taking about the engine. A/C for example, the refrigerant IS the lube so if it's not run periodically, o rings and seals tend to fail/dry out/crack. If it's me, I'm not budging to pay anywhere near what they're asking and I'm getting an extended warranty tossed into the deal to CYA.

When I was shopping around for mine I also came across an '18 Ruby Red that looked interesting, but after considering the minor but necessary improvements that they made on the '19-20 trucks vs the '17-18 trucks (looking at you cam phasers and plastic oil pan...) I'd say it's a no brainer to get a '19 unless the dealer already made those fixes and is willing to let it go for a great price.

I'd also me nervous to drive/push a truck that's likely never been up to full operating temperature or driven more than a few miles at a time. like @Rocsteady said, a sitting vehicle likely hasn't been properly lubricating all its gaskets/seals/lines and I'd hate to find that out the first time you go WOT.

Lastly, if re-sale value is something you care about, buying a model year or two newer will impact that value when you trade it in or sell it privately based on KBB value. If you can make the dealer eat this money off the bat then it's worth it but from the sounds of it they must think they have unobtanium on their hands.

I assume it’s a SCREW. What’s the MSRP?

I would pass unless they can do $10k off the sticker. It will be 3 model years old come January.

moonroof
tech package
carbon package
forged wheels
heated rears
spray in bed liner.

If i get a good trade in offer in Maine it would have to be one hell of a deal to make change my mind and get the 2018.

Yes its an SCREW

And from my research the late model 2018s had the cam phaser and oil pan fixes but i am leaning towards the 2019/2020.

MSRP is 73,300.

Heavily leaning toward the Maine truck. They even have 2020's for 6500 off sticker. If i can talk them down to 8K i might spring for that instead of a 2019.

Going to boil down to them matching my trade in offers I received here in CT.

The truck will be fine mechanically. Warranty will be from in service date, the day you purchase it. Price? Well that's another topic. You would think they would discount it deeper, but they may feel the pandemic will cause the supply chain to dry up and therefore have a sellable unit. Hard to say.

These next few months will be interesting regarding this silly pandemic nonsense.

Unless you are a long time vehicle owner you need consider resale value on a 2018 vs. a 2020. For example, if you want to upgrade to the 2022 3rd generation Raptor a 2018 will obviously be worth less than a 2020 on a trade in.

Are you sure the MSRP is $73k? That's what they are today! I was going to go into depreciation and such but at that number....RUN!!! I just got quoted $70k for a 20' out the door with everything plus Recaro's! You buy that 18' for $70k and we revoke your man card!

Move on. Not worth the effort when there are much better deals on 2020's out there. You can get the 2019-up trucks with full leather as long as they don't have the Recaro seats and are not the 800a package.

One thing to keep in mind, there have been several price increases since that truck hit the lot, might be worth considering also. So you're negotiated 9k off may actually be 11-12k when compared to a '20, i.e., a similarly equipped '20 may sticker for $2-3k more than the '18. You would have to check.
My '18 had been sitting on the lot for 6 months, at that time there had been 2 price increases between the time the truck arrived on the lot and the time I purchased, so I basically netted an extra $1000 over the $2k I negotiated off sticker, for the same year model truck.
I would figure the tires are probably "flat spotted" from sitting so long, so figure that into the deal also.
