2018 Ford Raptor Front Differential broke in the snow they say that Ford may not cover it?

I was on a Elk hunt in Montana and was trying to get off of the mountain when the front differential popped while accelerating up a hill. After it popped It slipped down into a ditch and my front tire was punctured. I had to change the tire in 30in of snow and it took me 6 1/2 hours to get off of the mountain. There was a grinding noise in the front differential up until I got up to highway speed when the noise stopped. I drove the truck to a hotel and when I got up the next morning and the truck started the grinding again but worse. I went to the closest Ford dealership and they told me that they couldn't help me and that they were three weeks behind. They suggested I go somewhere else. I was driving to the dealer they suggested when the front diff made a loud noise and the truck floorboard banged. I limped it in the last couple of miles. They say the front diff came apart and that it has a hole in it. I talked to my local dealer and they said they have seen this before and have covered it. I have 61,170 miles and have the best ford extended warranty. I do not off road this truck except while hunting and they are saying that it may not be covered under warranty. I bought the best 4wd pickup that Ford sells and they don't want to cover it? I need some advice on what to do. I am 1300 miles from home and they gave me an estimate of $4477 plus tax.

So what's different between the one they saw previously but did warranty, and yours? Did they give you a reason why they think yours wont be covered?

1300 miles and 80K! I am broke down 1300 miles away from home and I called my local dealership in Tennessee and they don't understand why it wouldn't be covered.

The dealer figures that he has you by the balls. You're from out of town, can't badmouth him to the locals, will never buy from him, never go there for service again, so there's no reason not to bend you over the barrel ... Can you call around and find an honest dealer that's closer?

Pay to have the truck sent home, and sue the local dealer for breach of contract and make as much noise as possible. End up with your local dealer doing the work and the other dealer covering transport for being grade A ricks

If you have a FORD ESP it’s unlikely they wouldn’t cover it but... this part above confuses me.

You have to drive it off the mountain, got that. you drove to the closed stealership and they told you ‘begone, peasant!’ ? presumably they were too busy. On the way to 2nd stealership the diff came apart. - Correct?

this part sometimes causes manufacturers to lose their common sense with the “well, Mister soandso, you knew the truck had a problem, continued to drive it and made the damage worse. Neglect! No warranty for you!”

During my decades ago lemon law suit; I think it may have been the incident the actually started it; I had been in for a transmission repair, down 3 weeks, got it back and thought I saw trailing smoke when I got it back. I couldn’t recreate it. I though I saw it again and had someone follow me - they confirmed it. I call the stealership service department, they tell me ‘drive it in, we’ll take a look’. I’m like “drive it, you don’t want me to tow it?” No, says they, it will be fine.

From that point on, it shifted funny; I say wrongly, they disagreed, but it was different from other vehicles like it and not for the better.

I was questioned on that event pre-trial, they tried to make it a thing, but the service mangler, to his credit did not deny my description of the events.

It sound like your truck was drivable until the first stealership shooed you away, that’s a tough thing for Ford to say isn’t their “fault”.

You have 61k+ miles and the “best” warranty? What are the time/mileage limits of your warranty?

eat the $600 it would take to transport back to your home dealer....save $3800

I don’t see anyone transporting that truck 1300 miles one way for $600. Fuel cost alone one way is ~$400. If it’s a professional insured shipper with a single load it would be 2.5-3x that.

Isn't the drivetrain warranted for 100,000 miles, no matter what extended warranty you have? Find another dealer and don't tell them you drove it with it banging and grinding, getting it off a mountain is one thing, driving it like that on a highway is stupid, keep that part to yourself. All else fails and I know it's inconvenient, get it towed home like others have said.
