It's from arogent asses sayng the first gen sucked compared to a vehicle we know nothing about yet other than the sound.

You won't catch me saying anything negative about the first generation Raptor. In fact, you won't catch me hating on any Ford trucks. When Ford comes out with something innovative, cool, and new that performs great, I've always been excited to see it and happy for prospective owners, even if it DID outperform what I happened to be driving.

That's what gets me. Every time I see "hating" going on here, it's the previous generation guys starting it. It just doesn't make sense!

Thanks, Chris. See? To me, there's a distinct difference in the exhaust note between the "racing" Raptor and the blue one. I know that the sound will change under load, but the blue one is just far more subdued and sounds more "factory". I suspect the racing Raptor has an exhaust that has been modified to some extent.

I swear... Some people's yunguns!

It's simply mind boggling to me that anyone with any logical sense would let something as silly as "sound" have any bearing on their decision about a vehicle (whether they like it, would buy it, etc). It can't be that there are this many illogical, irrational and just downright silly folks here, can it?

So what is it? Is the real story that you're just upset that the new generation will outperform the previous generation? Is it that you're mad because the new generation will likely hurt, to some extent, your resale values? What is it? Because I just can't believe that something as silly as sound frequencies can make such whiny babies out of such big, burly, brawny specimens of masculinity.

Here's the thing. I've owned the V8s that Ford has recently used in their trucks. They're great engines. Never had a problem. Having said that, once I owned my first 3.5 Ecoboost truck, I have no desire to go back to the V8s. Why? Because the Ecoboost outperforms the V8s in every category, but particularly, with regard to all things "truck". Throw on a tune, and it's not even close! The available torque at low rpms and the ability to continually pull hard just soundly trumps the V8s in all aspects of what I look for in a truck.

Does it "sound" as good as the V8s? No. Do I care? Nope. I couldn't care less if it sounded like a sewing machine or a weedeater, but if I DID care about the sound in the new Raptor, guess what: They make mufflers that'll quieten it down.

It's just silly, guys. Seriously. Y'all sound like a bunch of 16 year old girls who've been grounded from Twitter!

So, what you're saying is that we are silly because we like the sound of a V8? Why should you even care if we have an opinion? Because we do have an opinion and it has nothing to do with faster, better, smarter. It's just an opinion on sound. That's what this thread is about, isn't it?

Get over it already. No one called you silly for not caring about sound......

@Dewserb I didn't even finish reading you're post becose of the bashing. Yes gen 1 owners for the most.part bought the raptor because they like Ford. The Jen 2 is still called a raptor but it is not the same. We hope it's.way better but the sou d needs work.. And I am old and like a V8 don't mean I'll not try a v6 well probably not.

I never said it's bad to have an opinion or that they shouldn't be voiced. Furthermore, I never said my opinion shouldn't be voiced. The gist of my post was this: I find it silly that folks will condemn the entire platform solely based upon sound, and you have to admit there's a lot of that going on.

Nothing wrong with your opinion. Nothing wrong with mine. However, the incessant insistence that the new generation (or Jen 2, as some like to refer to it) is inferior based solely upon sound is, yes, "silly". For what it's worth, again, I LOVE the first generation Raptor, sound and all! :)

Right. Do explain how the "Jen 2" Raptor is different. Other than sound and number of cylinders, of course.

PS - *your, because, et al

Why is it gen 1 vs gen 2? Let's see how it all plays out. I love my gen 1 but gen 2 may be much better than my gen 1 minus the exhaust note but who knows?

I think we're a few weeks away from seeing how the two compare. Even then, both generation owners will know they own the baddest production trucks ever built.

Why does every Gen 2 guy automatically go to "it has more hp, its faster blah blah blah"? I don't care how fast it is, it's a 6000# truck. I care about how the new high output engine will handle the dust and dirt for tens of thousands of miles. I care about how the new transmission will do. I care that the truck uses the same IWE design. I care about the new electrical steering rack and how that will hold up to abuse. I care about the rear facing shock mounts and how those will hold up. I care about how well this frame is strengthened compared to the F150. I care about how much the truck costs and what I get for that added cost. All solid questions a normal person asks when throwing down 70 large on a car.

But hey, you'll beat a Gen 1 in a drag race...because that happens so often.

Everything is better, except for the sound. The embargo will be lifted very soon, and this is what you'll be reading.
