They should scrap it. Do something new. Not sure you want to try to copy the Raptor, even if is Ford and SVT. That Born in Baja movie showed a lot of blood, sweat and tears going into the Raptor program. Making a copy and falling short would be embarrassing and unnecessary.

Heres my take, from a guy who just put 60K on an 12 FX4 Ecoboost.
1. Ecoboost is strong, had a Livernois Tune and was quick.
2. Gas mileage at best was 14.5mpg with a 373 gear, had apperance package with 20 rims
3. I couldn't get past the whining of the turbos and the 6 banger exhaust sound
4. I trader for a 14 Raptor SE for the 6.2L and i love it. Has Livernois tune also and it will haul ass and sound good while its doing it.
5. If they quite making this 6.2, i for one will never trade again, just keep rebuilding engine or buy after market engine.
6. No more Ecoturd for me. Hell i would by a Dodge before i owned another Ecoturd.

Harblar is right. Who gives a shit about resale if there is no more v8. I will never sell it, and I would never buy some eco-boost ********. You cant take the muscle out of the muscle truck. They only make 5-8k of them a year for god's sake. It is a specialty vehicle. Do not give it some bs engine just to get better mpg. Just put some horsecrap environment restrictors on them to appease the tree huggers, and we will just rip that crap off when we buy it and mod it up like it should be. WTF! Who bought these for gas mileage or to save the atmosphere?

I can see it now, Instead of bent frames, "Raptor cracked frames"

Better get rid of those A frames. :jester:
Aluminum can be made 3 times thicker before it equals the weight of steel.
Truck bodies (tandem) have been made of aluminum for 40+ years.
And yes, I've seen those suckers cracked and they are not healthy of fun to weld :weld:compared to steel.

:birgits_tiredcoffeeI have to agree with you, that I too, am skeptical.
But, recent innovations in computer aided technology for Aluminum
and alloying and heat treatments may make this possible.
Initial cost could dampen the development though.
Although, I think payload capability may be compromised.
Time will tell :fishing1:

here, on frf
I honestly don't know if it's going to be a 6 or 8. I know a 5.0 EB is in development but I hear it's to replace the diesel.

Solid guess is a tuned 3.5L. I'm pretty impressed with that engine, I'd guess it will be similar HP/TQ to the 6.2, with less weight.

OK, I'll bet a 3.5 V6.
so if i take you up on that bet, do i get a free entry into trr too?

For one, this site is ********......for two, I can't see the next ford raptor sharing the identical bedsides, front end, and gen12's tail lights. This is the biggest reason the new gen Raptors aren't available to check out yet.....the engineers need to re-design the Raptor to 16' specs, hint- To GEN13's new body lines which ford always includes the new tail light and headlights into the design stages. To me, this picture reminds me of GM engineering. I'm sure the gen 2 Raptors would look very different and the weight saving won't be much unless The bedsides (which I can't see them doing) being made in aluminum but who knows........I also see a 5.8l DOHC s/c in its future =)........ PLEASE FORD IF YOUR LISTENING! OR A 5.0l v8 ecoboosted I can settle on as well as a 6.2 boosted! Haha.......

I just hope SVT engineers offer motor options IF FORD WAS TO OFFER the raps in ecoboost AS WELL as suspension options. It be kewl going with 3.0's as an Ford option when building your truck/ordering from the factory! I think all ford needs to do is push more of the aftermarket as options to the raptor IN FACTORY FORM= higher blue books and less mod money lost per trade-in if one was to trade up
