joshmills had a dead battery because of his tune being plugged in. do you have anything plugged in?

Nope! No tune either, bone stock truck in those regards!

Mine died in my Raptor before a year old nice RED dot in it.. Put in my old Red top Optima and that died so I went to a new Yellow top Optima now. Let's see how that holds up.

Optimas have been hit or miss in recent years. 5-10 years ago they were the *******. Now days they're overpriced and quality is questionable. I used to run a yellow top in my HD and a redtop in my 85. They lasted for years, then I finally had to switch them out and had nothing but dud after dud.

Sounds like the doors were not closed all the way when you went to lock it the night before. I did the same thing on my jeep and now I know.
If you try and remote lock the truck up an the doors are not closed all the way you will not hear the beep. Which sounds to me like that is what happened therefore left the dome light on in the truck and killed your battery.
Best I could think of.

Nope they were all shut all the way. I just washed the truck Monday evening, I would have noticed if one wasn't all the way shut. And I always lock the drivers door from the keypad, again would have noticed if it wasn't shut. Plus like the guys said the dome light is on a timer.

It's either a dud battery, or something electrical was faulted and staying on and draining.

Warranty will cover that Reptar

Yeah that's why I called Ford Roadside Service rather than jump it myself so I at least had that documented on record. I'll check it this morning and see if the red dot is still there after driving it yesterday, and see what the voltage is at after sitting all night. I hope its dead as a doornail again. I don't want the just throwing the battery on a charger for an hour, getting the green dot to show up and give it a good bill of health and slap it back in the truck, just so it can happen again. Once a lead acid battery has been that depleted, it's never going to be the same again.

If it were me I would have had Ford tow it to the dealership. This way there is no question / doubt as to who found / did what.
My guess is it's a bad battery.
Today's batteries seem to either die in the first year or they go forever.

There's a small amount of condensation around the edge. I know there's a TSB for it, but never bothered me enough to take it in for it since odds are it'll just do it again.

If I waited around an hour for the dealer to open, to then call and ask them to tow it there, the first thing they'd either ask, or have the tow truck driver do, is try to jump the truck since it was clear the battery was dead. It would have fired right up with the jump box, and they wouldn't have towed it in, and I would have been an hour later for work, and in the exact spot I'm in now. It's documented what it was because I went through Ford Roadside Assistance. I have a jump pack in the truck, but intentionally didn't do it so I had the roadside assistance call on record.

The indicator on the battery is red too, which is another sign of proof there's an issue.

And even if they did tow it in, it would be sitting there till sometime next week. No way am I leaving my truck with them for that long. I'm taking it in this coming Friday, and I'll be waiting while they do whatever BS they're going to do and probably argue with not giving me a new battery. lol

Checked it this morning and it was at 11.8 volts after sitting 12 hours. Maybe I won't drive it for a few days this week, so on my way into the dealer Friday it'll be dead and I can call up "hey I'm bringing my truck in for service on the battery, and the battery is dead AGAIN, come jump this $50k POS!" :fc5716bd:

I just got a new battery after 2.5 years from the factory. I got a much better battery, more CCAs too (850). The factory battery stopped holding a charge. Kept dying on me. Alternator and terminals were all good. New battery in and no more problems now.

Not impressed with the oem battery, mine was dead just 10 days after I got the truck! I just junked it & installed a higher capacity one & have not had any issues even after the truck has parked for 2 weeks.
