I had a similar issue the other day. Truck said key fob battery low so I ordered a Duracell replacement of amazon. After changing it, every other time I went to unlock or start the truck it would say no key fob detected. Smacked it on my knee and it would be responsive again. Thought the spring battery contacts were worn so I bent them up. Didn't fix it. So I went back to my old battery (Panasonic) that was supposedly low on juice and haven't had an issue for the past week.

Great picture!
You did replace _both_ batteries, correct?

You can get inexpensive replacement fobs off Amazon - I just got 2 because I broke the ring off of the remote, but I just swapped the case and kept the electronics, contacts etc.
You could take a look at the contacts too.

Fun fact... there is a plastic/elastic tab that aids in the removal of the battery. You have this under the positive spring right? Pretty obvious but figured I'd mention it.
