  • The nut had not been previously removed and was a Nyloc flange nut. The threads looked "OK" and went together smoothly. I wonder how long it was loose. Thanks for the reply.
    I have a question.
    We were out at the Mojave Road and my friends 2020 Raptor SCAB had the UCA ball-joint nut come off. I found the nut and installed the UCA. Is there any "standard" repair on that type of failure or is it open to the Tech?
    I would NOT fell comfortable with just retorquing the nut.

    Was the nut previously removed? The factory nut has a nylon insert; it should never loosen up on its own. If the threads are undamaged, the proper repair is to replace the nut and torque it to spec.

    I've had these start to walk off on a couple trucks when we have been out west. We would check them regularly.
    My engine blew at 91K Miles. Told a valve broke off and went through the cylinders into the block and turbos. Luckily it covered under my 100K Ford warranty. The dealer says there are no complete engines available so they are ordering a long block and all the other parts separately. My question is are the techs specifically trained to build an engine as well as the factory ?

    Yes, technicians are trained in engine disassembly/assembly. However, there is no “building” required with a long block; it includes everything except for the intake/exhaust manifolds, fuel system, and accessories. You will never get a complete engine under warranty because it’s not necessary when the existing components can be reused.

    That`s what i thought but the Ford ordered 5 more cams from different location and all of them are the same.

    Wow, that is definitely strange. Even though the teeth are spaced the same, I don't see how the PCM wouldn't flag that as being out of time, since it's 180 degrees out. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    I ran the VIN and I'm coming up with the same part number for the passenger side exhaust camshaft; DL3Z-6250-A, which superseded DL3Z-6250-AB. You may have received one that was incorrectly manufactured; I would recommend getting another one to verify.
