Just picked up a 2011 Raptor SCrew w/ Sony.

What's the go to recommendation for bang-for-buck?

Two questions:

1. Is it recommended to replace headunit with a touchscreen Carplay like any of the ones from Crutchfield that match their compatibility guide? Requirements for me are backup camera has to work automatically in reverse, bluetooth mic has to be at least as good as factory, and I don't want to switch sources to have a phone call ring through the speakers.
2. What is the best bang for the buck upgrade, and is it plug and play?
   1. the Kicker Soundstage looks interesting but there is a question of custom sub amp wiring that it seems to put people off
      
   2. Kappas or something like this post (I've had bad luck with Kappas but it certainly could have been component matching/config
   3. Budget components front, plus a foxbox w/ Pioneer sub, remove rear door speakers?
   4. Budget components front, all four door speakers replaced, foxbox and Pioneer sub?

I'm worried if I decided to use a local shop they won't know about the cap issues, cutoffs, the front speaker dynamic, not to use the rear door channels, etc.

I don't have a budget, per se, but let's just say it's $1k no HU, -2k w/ carplay HU, but I'm very sensitive to diminishing returns. If a $700 speaker upgrade is 90% as good as a $2000 system, and if that $700 is night-and-day from OEM, I'm interested, ya know? I'm not trying to compete in SPL or SQ, and I have two elementary age kids so I'm not trying to go overboard on loudness, but the stock stuff is really bad, I don't need to tell you. Speaking of which, I'd prefer not to have a JL stealthbox firing into the passenger seat bottoms, etc.

I've read through these posts, but was hoping for the "latest/greatest" recommendation for a processor and "signal summing" device. I've seen quite a few suggestions, but as with anything technology, those products seem to evolve quickly. Prior to this post, I've been leaning towards the JL or Rockford Fosgate type solutions - but both recommended products have been discontinued. I want it to be effective, but I don't intend to spend hours tuning it. Simple and clean.

Getting the best/cleanest signal to my amp is the only real objective. Your input gratefully accepted TIA

Several had recommended the Rockford 360.3, but as that has been discontinued, I was looking at the DSR1 which appears to be the 360.3's successor.

It's a tough one to answer. The best DSPs are very powerful but takes years of training to use that potential. Entry-level DSPs can do basic functions, but they are very limited. You have to ask the person tuning it what he/she prefers and what's their capability level. Do not buy a very powerful DSP with basic knowledge and nothing worse than a limited DSP in the hands of an expert.

Entry level = DSR1
Mid Level = Audiocontrol / MiniDSP
Advanced = Arc Audio PS8 / Mosconi Aerospace

For those with 2013-2014s, has anyone gone with an aftermarket dash?

I have the Sync 3 upgrade but dislike the wired carplay. But would like to upgrade to a different head unit with wireless carplay.

Just get a wireless carplay adapter. That's what I did.
