I know its early but for 2014 snowball this is the route to go. Been there once about 10 years ago with my dad, during the winter its -50c and more snow then you can imagine. When we were driving we saw about 30 caribou running along our truck on the road.
Its actually the most desolate and northernmost road you can use in eastern north america. How aboot 50 trucks crossing the tundra.
From there is also a trans taiga road which goes all the way to labarador.
Just an idea hehe

umm yeah thats one way 1600km and then back. that's the main road that goes to radisson which is a hydro quebec town.

the only thing that sucks about this route that theres intervals with 600km apart from any gas stations or anything.
its the real bush drive, also in the winter theres about 500km of ice roads which are pretty cool.
if anyone wants to read up its called the "James Bay Road" and the "trans taiga road"

a few of my buddies from univ went during the summer on their motorcycles... well...... they went half way and camped out the night... needless to say a few bears came and they had to shoot it because it was going to attack them. It's real wilderness up there, theres no island resort casinos LOL

1600 km thats 994 miles...Thats a serious trip. Going to need a fuel truck to follow us

well he said 600km for fuel stops, that almost 375 miles.

Netix, hows the road in spring post thaw or early fall?

Is there any sort of lodging on the route or is it so rustic that everyone would absolutely have to camp?

during the winter is the hardest. It's basically like ice road truckers type of deal. super cold, tundra setting and real wildlife, bears, wolves ect. Northern lights can be seen there too.

james bay road itself (James Bay Road Website - Home Page) is half paved half gravel to radisson and ft george. Which are the most NORTHERN points you can go. Nice history with old forts that the british built on the hudson bay.
there is also a few other roads which connect and are more suitable for our trucks.
which are.. Trans-Taiga Road

most people if they decide to go its during the spring/summer/fall. But just searching a quick youtube vid it's real canadian pre running. Driving the Trans-Taiga Road - YouTube

I think there is a few places to stay along the way being anywhere from south quebec to radisson is okay. Trans taiga road to brisay is dead. The road itself is public with a few ghost towns alongside but the town itself has NO service, NO fuel, No accomedations. It's the last point on the road and it's a Hydro Quebec town. so at this point in brisay QC you are about 650KM from Radisson which is the CLOSEST town.

this trip would be 50x more intense and 50x more preparation to complete it. Ive heard stories of peoples tires ripping on the roads and they needed to get a tire flown in which is expensive!

look at the website it has all the info. from those 2 main roads there are tons of backcountry roads leading to ghost towns or just towns of 50-100 people. real bushwackin'

You have my attention. We may have to get with you and do some discussing. May not be the next SnoBall, but that doesn't mean we can't put something together.

We may need to start working the crew at Superduty HQ to come along so they can bring the SDHQ built Denton Racing chase rig!! I mean it just happens to have all ICON Suspension on it, but also looks like they have some experience that might come in handy at the SnoBall 500!!!!

This thing could carry any and all equipment needed for repairs, extra fuel, tow a flatbed trailer for fatal damage and so on.
