I'm sorry you're getting caught up in this...but I warned you!!! Don't make this hard; it's NOT, when you follow my instructions, which are the same instructions of those who PRECEDED me!!

What you DEALERSHIP, DMV, BOE, AAA, and even FORD do NOT KNOW, is that EVERY RAPTOR coming from FORD PERFORMANCE carries THE IDENTICAL EMISSIONS STICKER!!! If you search on my posts, you'll see this information, INCLUDING PICTURES the stickers from two separate Raptors; one was CA-Emissioned, and the other was mine (non CA)...AND THEY ARE THE SAME!!

It's been said many times, here, that EVERY vehicle coming out of Ford will now have the same emissions certification and sticker; the only difference being whether or not the dealer "checked the box" on the order form.

The BOTTOM LINE is, quit calling people!! Take it from me, you're not going to find ANYONE that can give you the LATEST information, such as we have...those who've gone before you and done the correct steps and footwork to register their OOS vehicle.

Just remain confident and assertive, information each party that you know what you're talking about...the CA DMV has not caught up with the newest standards and labeling. Sounds lame, until you think about the DMV system.

So, the Dealer wants "Proof"? Well, that's a new twist...and something they are dreaming up for some reason. Other than the many on this forum, you're not going to get proof. Unless you can articulate that, with assertion, you may be in trouble since the dealer is probably worried that they'll have to eat the sale and unwind you if the process fails.

I had a great group of people working at my dealer, who trusted me to carry the baton. After all, it was there mistake when they realized the vehicle wasn't a CA vehicle...and it had already been shipped.

I guess, if you were REALLY REALLY crazy committed to get this truck of yours, then you might be able to sign a waiver of some kind that releases the dealer of liability. This, however, is well out of my purview, so I can't make any advise on that.

By the way, you'll more history here...

Thanks again but...

The dealership wants to be certain that I can register the vehicle here in Kalifornia before they take my deposit and commit the truck to me.

They apparently were burned by someone else on a previous deal but I'm not sure it had to do with out of state registration.

So, how do I convince them I can register this truck in CA?

I do need their help since they'll be adding CA taxes.

I'm afraid I've provided you/them with as much proof as you're going to get. After all, they are the lazy ones and haven't educated themselves. Nor are they willing to contact others who HAVE PROVEN that it can be done.

Bottom line is, unless there is a waiver you can sign, you have nothing else but your money to go on...and we all know they can get it sold without your money.

What about Darin's warning in Post #1 in this thread about not being able to register a Raptor in California that isn't a "GREEN STATE" truck or a "California emissions" state truck?

I appreciate your help and info but I don't want to go down a rabbit hole I can't get out of by buying a Raptor I can't register in Kalifornia.

This is, after all, the internet and everyone is correct ;)

I understand your fear, but am sorry that it seems you're trying to research and find someone who say how it CAN'T be done, rather than listen to those who ARE DRIVING THE PROOF that it CAN be done!

Aside from sending you pictures of my physical documentation, not much else I can tell you, if you can't trust us.

I successfully registered a Tennessee ordered 2017 Raptor without the CA Emissions option. I paid $6339 in taxes to CA BOE and $737 in reg fees to DMV...and here's my proof:

So, I'm sorry...show me one of these other people's proof it can't be done. I'm glad I didn't listen to them.

There is a lot of pertinent information on the web by googling this subject from regulatory sites. Did my search when considering buying a Raptor from Texas to bring back to Colorado.

I appreciate all your help. I'm not doubting you. I'm working with a dealer who had a previous problem - found out what it was...they sold an EXPLORER (not a Raptor) and it was not able to be registered in Kalifornia and they had to take the SUV back. That's their fear now and they just want to be sure they won't have the same situation on a much more expensive truck.

If I can find a way to convince them then I can get this truck.

Thanks again

Well, again, your dealer is ignorant. I wonder if they even realize that the Raptor is made in an entirely different division called FORD PERFORMANCE. My guess is they don't even realize that SVT is no more! Ugh.

I wish you the best in convincing them.

Keep us posted.

Unfortunately most are.

To be kind, they're not ignorant, they're being very careful.

You know what they say about being fooled twice

Absolutely. I AM being kind, and totally understand their position. I can't blame them.

HOWEVER...
I AM saying they are ignorant regarding their lack of knowledge about how the whole registration process, Emissions certification, etc. After all, THEY are supposed to be the experts and find solutions to make the sale, not us.

I bought from out of state as well. ALL 2017 RAPTORS have 50 state emissions.

The first post in this thread is WRONG. period dot

Listen to GizmoVance. :)
