What's the Best way to break in a new Truck?

lol, if you put it in neutral and try to rev it, the truck will only go to 3,000 rpm for the first couple thousand miles, it does have a break-in period, if you really have to, you can start towing at 1,000 miles, but you should let it go until it will rev all the way up in neutral before towing, all vehicles have a break-in period, whether you care enough about it to follow it or not is your choice

Sometimes it might be worth considering posting information and questions online without revealing "too much information."

For example, I would have asked the question this way:

"Why does the factory manual state the following regarding towing and the break-in period...?"

I wouldn't have included any information about "my boat" and "wanting to tow it this weekend"

that and the rear end gears need to go through a number of heat/cool cycles to break in properly. too much heat when these things are new and it's trouble down the road.

Bought my 2012 Raptor on 6/6/12, 6/8/12 drove 800 miles to my place in Mi towing the 24ft enclosed trailer with my New Holland Boomer 30 in the back. SO 24-48 hour breakin period is fine

They won't ever rev past 3,000 unless you put a tune on it. Unless they've changed something. I've got 65,000 on my 2010 (least amount of nannies) and it still won't rev past 3000. Will be getting a tune soon though, so that will change

Mine goes to redline in neutral ever since I think 3,000 or 5,000 miles

I picked mine up with 1.1 miles on it, drove it like a stolen rally car the next 17 miles, including a burnout in front of the dealership, then towed a RZR XP in a 20' enclosed from mile 18 to 650 over 2 4000 foot passes. You will be fine with your boat.
