5w-30? Both my 04 FX4 and my Raptor want the 5w-20 used? I have alway run the Mobil 1 in all my rides sept the Suzuki's. They get Susuki semi syn.

Had an aquantance use straight 30 wt on a used f 150 he bought, ran fine till he changed the oil and went with the 30wt. Didn't make another 1500 more miles and trashed the motor. Mechanic blaimed the oil? To thick for some of the small oil passages? I am suspicious of his story.

Oops, damn typo. I do run the 5w-20 Synthetic Blend. 5w-30 is completely different than straight 30w. That's like molasses! If there even is such a thing.

Mobil 1 with a K&N filter for me since the first oil change. If i were to go to a different oil it would be Amsoil.

Amsoil 5w-20 OE (Product Code: OEMQT-EA) w/ a Motorcraft Filter. I didn't see a need to pay more for the XL or Signature Series from Amsoil since I am not currently doing extended drain intervals while in warranty.

Did an early oil change at about 2k miles just because. Probably good I did since I found a slowly leaking transfer case rear seal while under the truck. I have just over 5k miles on the truck right now.

you should check the oil filter thread i posted.

Yeah I did check it out there was some good info that's for sure. K&N over price yeah but i get good discounts and makes me feel better. I personally can't tell a difference when I run different filters. The main thing is to change your oil regardless of what you use changing is the key. I guess the K&N was quick peace of mind but since you posted that I haven't bought any filters yet. Might change but don't know yet.

Motorcraft 5W-20 Semi-syn/Motorcraft filter. Used them for 10 years on my 02 FX4 Lariat when I changed the oil myself. Only one oil change so far on the Raptor, but I decided to finally bite the bullet and am going to let the dealer change the oil on the Raptor (finally....I had told my wife I'd stop at 50) .....with the same Motorcraft semi-syn and filter.
