I used Rust o Leum industrial grey primer(it's what gave me the idea to begin with). I wet sanded them first with 400 grit which gave them a nice consistent haze, not scratches. I wet sand since i do 6-8 light mist coats 30 seconds apart when i spray paint to get a nice, thin flexible and consistent finish. the clear coat is what i go heavier with since it's the protection and the base is just the color i don't want it too thick to fish eye or orange peel(or drip, obviously.)
Alright then, this is on my to do list for sure.

Can you list which paint specifically? Is there a part number? I have a hard time with matching colors up exactly, so I don't want to guess wrong.

Maybe I missed it, but how do the reflectors detach from the mirror? I assume its a couple of clips that release by simply prying? Any tips on where/how to pop them off?

Thanks for this mod BIRD. Looks killer.

Hey J I'm sure Birdman will chime in but I've listed the paint codes for the fenders and bumpers elsewhere on this site. Don't know if it can be mixed into an aerosol at a paint shop or even worth it for such a small project. Just FYI.

^^Roger that. And thats the info I'll use if BIRD says thats what he used.

But I'm getting the impression he was just able to run to the local hardware store and grab a can of off the shelf stuff, that matches close enough?

Here's another one in the daylight today

Big J, Correct I got the paint code from Ford but they could only get me the touch up pen so what I used was a Rust o Leum wheel paint product that I purchased at Auto Zone. It's not only close, it's spot on...it even has a little sparkle to it like the fenders. The only "problem" is I cleared the reflectors heavy and they are a bit shinier than the fenders and it makes them look a tad darker in direct sunlight, but...we you can see in the pics it's perfect. I will get you that paint code later when I go to my garage.

To remove them you need a thin, medium size flat head. On the driver side the clips are a little different and you pry from the outboard side(maybe this is only if you have the dim able mirror option). The passenger side I pried them out from the inboard side. Don't be scared they pop right out you wont mar anything.

You might as well use the same primer since that could affect the top coat. It's the Rust o Leum High Performance Industrial (tall silver can- Home Depot) in the grey primer color. Try it without the clear coat( I used the standard ROL clear) and see how it matches.
