Oil change day. Also picked up a new drain bolt and decided to try Amsoil for the first time. I totally forgot what a pain it is to change the oil on the Raptor. Going forward I may pick up a Fumoto drain valve to make it a bit easier.
Fumoto
Question for anyone using Amsoil, what’s so special about it? Is there any realistic benefit to it vs Mobil1 for example?

$30 to plastidip the OEM rims and see if I like black. Think I’ll just keep it this way and possibly do the skid plate as well.C6F1D366-F82F-4FDC-B767-2BBA8E98E54C.jpeg

Get the Fumoto! It’s worlds cleaner and simpler. Get the plastic pipe they offer and just bypass the oil catch pan and drain directly to a gallon jug of your liking. Will help to keep your nice floor looking good.

When the topic of Amsoil comes up it’s usually opening up a can of worms...

Historically, I’ve always used the boutique oil brands like Motul with an OEM filter. They always had great UOA’s and I never had any issues. Admittedly, I’ve also never had an issue with any of the top oil brands like Mobil1, Castrol and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum either and at some point you’re simply splitting hairs. This is particularly true for folks like myself that tend to over maintain their toys. No doubt Amsoil is a good oil with great UOA’s across the entire line including during extended intervals. I simply always avoided Amsoil because of all the die hard Amsoil fanboys preaching it’s merits and didn’t care for their buying process. But, one of my friends decided to become an Amsoil dealer so I helped him out. I suggest if you are really interested in Amsoil to do some research on BITOG and decide for yourself.

Somewhere you can find online the benefits in graphs, charts, and such. I noticed an immediate difference when I switched to it when doing my last oil change. Truck ran smooth and quiet.

Thank you for the great advice. I’ve never used a Fumoto but I’m picking one up for sure. No matter how careful I am with changing the oil on the Raptor, it always seems to find it‘s way onto areas outside of the drain pan. LMAO

I will say I also noticed it was quieter compared to the dealer filled Motorcraft oil I drained out with only 2200 miles on it. Wanted to change the oil after getting the cam phaser fix.

The Fumoto valve is really nice. It's near impossible to not make a huge mess without it.

Heh, when I switched from Amsoil to Schaeffer's I noticed an immediate difference in how much smoother and quieter the truck was with the schaeffer's.
