Discovered some interesting stuff. Seems to be an original engine, but I have no way to verify. Timing cover had definitely been off before as it had a weird gasket.
There's nothing on Carfax? As far as I can tell, there's never been a recall for the oil pumps on the 6.2. The previous janky gasket "repair" seems like it wasn't a dealership repair. If it turns out it was a repair based on misdiagnosis of that vacuum fitting (mentioned before), does that part look new?

Finally got a tire mounted to my matching spare wheel and replaced the thrashed Icon rear shocks with new OEM Fox’s.

The lower one is blown and leaking oil. Both have gouges in the shafts. The corrosion is unreal. At $2,200 a piece you’d think Icon could use a better coating. Previous owner painted the shock bodies.

That dovetail mod! The best kind of mod is the one that looks like the factory should have done it.IMG_0396.jpeg.jpg

Nothing on carfax. CPV doesn’t look new. All vacuum hoses look old. Wondering if the prev owner had intentions to do FI and went ahead and put an oil pump on it for peace of mind, and then never did the FI.

Update on Project Hopeless:

the entire front suspension was recently removed, so I can step up to a Gen 2 suspension. I found out the hard way that although you can replace the LCA bushings & balljoints, the UCA's are throwaways. This complicated plans to sell off what would have been a complete Gen 1 suspension, with new OEM Fox’s, new Geiser coils, new LCA's, tie rods, axles, and shims. Unfortunately, since the Gen 2 replacement coil buckets have yet to arrive I was reluctant to sell the Gen 1 parts, because in 2023 you can't rely on much. Meanwhile, an unexpected $8500 solar panel repair happened. But, as soon as I receive the new coil buckets & get them on, I can sell off the Gen 1 parts, plus some other Gen 2 parts I've acquired, and I'll be able to finally put everything back together and have a reliable, paid for, fun and ba dass daily driver. Long term goal: within a year I'll be looking to step up the stock rear suspension to a 3-link through Evil Offroad, looking for around 20" travel while leaving the gas tank in place.

Troubleshoot rear driver's side door ajar message.
If it was just 1 or 2 wires broken I'd fix it but 4 is too many.
Replacement harness ordered. Arriving tomorrow.

Done!
The inner skin was dried out and cracking severely in several places. I knew it would just fall apart if I tried to reinstall it as is, so I used foil tape (I believe its used for ductwork and such) to reinforce the badly broken sections. I forgot to take pics of the panel reinstalled but the good news is my door-ajar error is gone and the dome lights shut off like they're supposed to without the long delay.
The Jack Russell is Kali..she keeps me company when I'm in the garage and stands guard. She's only 11 lbs but she barks really really loud....:emotions33:

Got up early, hauled a massive load of cardboard to the recycle place, went to Harbor Freight and 2 different Wally Worlds picking up last minute camping supplies. Came home, did an oil change on Raptor, then loaded all of my camping gear for next week. I think I might still be able to get a couple of toothpicks in the truck. No photos. I'm an exhausted loser who can't be bothered to take photos. I will be doing a test set-up on rooftop tent tomorrow, will try to remember to take a photo or two then.

@Bozz I'm slightly less exhausted so I guess I could make time for pictures. Over in Alabama for the weekend.
