Trying to change my fm antenna to a stubby but I can’t get the long whip off. It will turn but it doesn’t seem to be backing off. I can only get my fingers under it and I don’t feel anything turning underneath. Any suggestions?View attachment 457176
Saws-all. Not sure why folks go to a stubby other than looks. Radio reception bites with install. I am old school and still listen to AM-FM. Good luck

Almost five hours later and I’m no closer to getting the antenna off than I was when I started. I’m going to regroup and try a different tactic tomorrow. I’m at the point of being tempted to just nip it off short. I don’t know what the previous owner put on it, if anything, other than the electrical tape I took off from under the small plastic cover. I’m completely at a loss and my heel hurts to put pressure on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Good news is that it still picks up fm stations, I checked just to be sure. Bad news I dislocated my middle left finger closing the hood. No worries not the first time I’ve dislocated it. I put it back in place and I’ll wear tape for a few days.

Are you able to remove the entire antenna assembly off of the fender? Disconnect the cable and then be able to work on it on a bench. Soak the entire thing in a jar or maybe carefully add a little heat to the antenna close to base without ******** up said base.
