Several days ago I installed a Mag-Hytec rear differential cover provided by Chris@FreedomMotorsports. Excellent product, first rate service from Chris as I reported at the time.
I noted that the breather for the rear axle extends upward only as far as the bottom of the pickup bed. The factory doesn't even put a hose clamp on the nipple at the axle. So today I ran 5/16 fuel line from the axle all the way to the topmost position under the hood in the engine compartment and put a breather filter on the end of it. Much better.
Yep, its really not that hard. Once you pop the leather side pieces off there are 2 set screws that hold the rectangular silver piece in place. You can then slide the whole top piece up and off for further disassembly. You just have to disconnect the small electrical connectors for the T/H and +/- wiring. You need to remove the large trim piece, the part with the cupholders, to get access to the wiring underneath but its easy to get off. Just clips in.

Nothing, but I DID get outside for about 30 minutes to show my 17 year old that the turbo on his Duramax would indeed come out of the truck. He has been working hard for a week to get it off without luck. Even with printed instructions from Alldata and some training from both myself and his auto shop teacher, it was still kicking his butt. So dad had to go show him how it was done. Boy was he aggravated when I got it out that fast...lol Now it's time to spend one day this week showing him how to properly put it all back together with a new turbo so he can get on the road in something other than his 2000 Suuuuuuzuki Esteem....
