Nothing, I just do that on unknown vehicles to see what it’s been filtering and make sure it’s not full of metal or sludge. No biggie, I’m sure you are good, is a 6.2 after all.Well its in the filer bin now. What would be the problem?? I may try to get it back out

Sorry about that. If you looked at the oil coming out and it was good there is no reason to look at the filter in such detail.Dang it man, You had me worried. But i got it out just in case lol

Check out project farms videos on oil, he has a few. He shows you how he cuts the filter apart and then he squeezes the filter media. Pretty cool, thought about doing it myself just for fun, but..............Lol its all good. It was pretty dark, other than that i cant really say cause I forgot to check the bucket I borrowed from the techs so idk if the metal was there or from my truck. Oops. They did a trans fluid change before i used it.

How do you cut them open?
Kinda what i was thinking lol
Wow what a mess. lol I will have to do mine at next oil change. I switched to that Wix filter for synthetic oil and now I’m curious what the difference between a regular filter and the new one will look like. Although I don’t plan on making a mess like that in my garage, lol.@WNCHSTR96
Got it open and it tipped while i tried to get the last bit off lol. Other than the oil being dark i dont really see anything shining or feel any grittiness, The filter looks pretty worn though.
