Finished the install Wednesday. About 1/2 of my GoPro video clips won’t import properly into my phone so video is delayed until I can figure that out.

A few notes/tips from the install:

1. An extra pair of hands is extremely helpful when feeding the welded nuts into the frame. I used a smaller bolt to trap the nut inside the frame then had my wife thread the bolt in while I held everything from inside the frame.

2. The Forged Offroad kit reuses the OEM rubber bumpstop bolt which I didn’t have (because I had the ICON spacers installed which required a longer bolt.) so I pick up a pair of grade 8 bolts / lock nuts at Lowe’s to accommodate.

3. MAKE SURE, again, MAKE SURE you install the crossbar into one side of the bumpstop brace BEFORE putting the other brace on. Ask me how I know….. really though I installed both bump braces THEN tried to install the cross brace, you can’t. I had to remove the passenger side brace and reinstall after installing the cross brace.

4. When installing the axle strike plates, make sure you line up the leaf pack centering bolts before letting the leaf springs back down. Took me a few tries before figuring out what I was doing wrong.

All in, the install was about 4 hours total. 1 hour last night and 3 hours today.View attachment 167370View attachment 167371D03678BF-B577-493C-9DAB-0157065B1AB1.jpegC3280BEF-0CDE-4468-86A6-E790559D845B.jpeg

Replaced the spark plugs, coil boots, wires and installed the AFE CAI cover.

The spark plugs were a pain, no doubt about that. Everyone that I've read warned that the bottom would take much longer. It was the opposite for me... The top 8 plugs and boots took me 3 hours. The bottom plugs and wires took me about an hour. I didn't remove the wheel well liners, but I did jack up the front end to give me more room to work. The most difficult one was the passenger side front plug. Having king shocks made it a little harder than stock, but still doable from the top with the right tools.

The plugs were done at 100K by Ford. The wires and coil boots were original with 180K on them. I was getting around 12mpg on the highway before, so we'll see if there is any improvement.

Here's how it started:

New wires in:

New CAI cover and replaced the filter:

I took the truck up to Marin(about 2 hours from home) last night to photograph a good friend's engagement. I took the opportunity to snap a few photos while I was there with my nicer cameras.

are those 3.0’s out back? I was thinking about running some with my svc bumps but was worried about the extra bump travel maxing the shocks. Did you see any issues?
