bought a couple of spare keys off ebay, had them cut and then programmed them. figured might as well spend the $42 otd for the 2 spares....last time i was at the beach a couple weeks back when it was actually still somewhat warm in NJ and just imagined my fat ass falling over into the water and losing the only key i had on me...that would have sucked a fat one.

I fell in love with using the keypad and locking my key inside the truck. Went to work, let it set for two weeks and the battery died (prior to leaving for work the switch went out on my bedlights and after three days this had originally weakened my battery).

ANYWAY I live in MS and my keys were inside the cab and my battery was deader than hell. GF Fedex'd my spare key to NM and I borrowed a truck to go get the keys and a new battery, I now have a spare key hidden under my truck that will only open the doors.

I was on that forum when Peter was developing these and started selling them under his Northlight Labs company. In the beginning people were asking if they could send him theirs to do or do an exchange program. He insisted that he wanted to use new OEM product for consistency and would not venture down that concept. Said something about the rubber part would be somewhat deteriorated on old ones. I ended up buying for the fronts about 2 years ago. Glad that there is someone out there that decided to do this, makes sense to me.

Brett is the name of the guy that does these, he has a machinist do the detent so it will be consistent on every one. He replaces that rubber doodad that deteriorates and the foam gasket that goes on the backside of the door, and they are packed full of white grease. He said the oem door checks cost $55 so that is what he charges as a core charge that gets refunded when you return the ones off your truck. That is why I bought from him, quality product at a very decent price point.

Northeast "MP" Door checks (See details within!) - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:02 PM ----------

For as much effort as it takes to install these, I think that it would be better to have new parts, rather than someone's old ones. Not worth saving $50 bucks just to have a used set eventually break after being installed.

I just got a set of rear ones from Northlight today, and it requires the removal of the rear door panels and speakers, which seems like it is going to take longer to install than the fronts.

They have a lifetime warranty for what that is worth.
