Friends,

I have a weird odor emanating from the A/C (smells a little like mold), I'm guessing the first place to check would be the cabin air filter, but I was wondering if anyone else had something similar and it WASN'T just a filter.

This also gives me an excuse to say what's been updated (with micro reviews) on the truck 1 month into my ownership, plus throw a couple pictures in. (Spoiler: Not much)

*Soap Box*
All-in-all I'd say I'm extremely satisfied with my purchased. This is the third vehicle I've owned and the third I've paid for with my own money. My first car was an 2009 Audi A4 Premium+, then a 2011 BMW 328i M Sport, and then for a brief period between deployments a 2019 Toyota 4Runner Limited Night Shade Edition. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt this vehicle has put the most amount of smiles on my face in the short month I've had it. Seeing the Blue Oval every time I hop in gives a little pride...and then rolling on the accelerator when getting on the highway will always make me giggle like a school child.

Miles at time of post: 50,737.6 (I've been driving a lot...)

"Additions"
  • Pace Edwards Switch Blade Retractable Tonneau (Very good for the price, felt cheap when installing but once on it feels solid and looks really good)
  • F150LEDs HUD (Jury's still out on this one, if you don't have a front window tint the SoundScreen windshield causes a double imagine.)
  • DeWalt Fiber Mat (DXTAXLTBMQ15SCS)
  • Rydonair Stubby Antenna (It looks pretty good, $23, nuff' said)
  • Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Trim (Because I couldn't stand looking at where the previous owner had worn away the finish at the bottom, I will be replacing the steering wheel soon-ish™)
  • Standard FORScan Modifications
Been toying around with idea of a tune...had a pedal commander, but after reading all of @FordTechOne's posts...I returned it...sport mode is good enough...

My intent is to keep this truck for the long haul, it was CPO and I plan on extending the warranty as far as I can so a tune is probably out of the question for a little bit...but enough of text wall here are two recent photos!

I'm thinking the FoMoCo cabin air filters might be at fault...someone on here is running no air filter at all and said the smell hasn't returned in a week.

wouldn't be any need to run a "ford" filter anyhow. But I know some here are super "OEM" only types.

get one with some charcoal shit in it aftermarket

I started that other thread on this topic, might look over there too but...
I have found the more air that I push through the vents the less I get that smell. I am starting to believe it’s simply moisture collecting throughout the system creating mold or the vinegar smell.
I stopped using AUTO on hot days and go to high fan speed MAX A/C. No issues so far...

I've had the same issue with the musky smell coming out the air vents. I replaced the stock cabin filter with a cabin filter infused with charcoal. The smell has never came back. Easily to find on line.
