Started having wastegate chatter from both turbos, slightly different sound on each when engine breaking downhill and decelerating from about 3000 to 2000 rpm’s.

Dealership is being weird, they are saying they are going to replace the “waste gates”. I believe the turbos are internal gates and not serviceable themselves right?

I’ve asked to provide the specific part they are replacing but they are being weird and not able to tell me the specific part.

I’m a new ford owner, just never dealt with service quite like this with no transparency.

The Gen 3 trucks use a rotary wastegate actuator. This actually spins metal on metal and therefore tends to exhibit more NVH ‘wastegate rattle’ than the Gen 2 with linear wastegate actuator

I’m ok with a little noise. This buzzing sound is quite annoying though.

Ford is replacing the driver side turbo, I’ve pushed them to replace both but they claim they cannot reproduce the noise on the right side.

One and a half week of ownership, yayy me.

Is ford corporate in these forums? I’m waiting for a call back To see if I can get them to approve the right side as well
