There is definitely a lot of legit supply chain disruption going on right now because of the Chinese virus. Shipping is hurting a lot of companies. I've been waiting on a sight for a rifle build and it's been sitting a 1/2 hour away in the regional USPS hub for 3 weeks! Their excuse is that, "There are a lot of other packages sitting there also, they are behind." WTF?

Yeah a lot of stuff stopped for 3-6 months and started back up in limited capacity so backlog is real and it’s global. Each thing could have one part that comes from a place getting creamed right now.

Ford rep just emailed me. Told me had a update and that the parts will come off backorder 01/29/2021.

That's great that you are at least getting some feedback on the status of the parts. As mentioned, North Central Ford could have cared less and acted like I was a bother every time I called to check on the status (which was only the two times they said the driveline was supposed to arrive).

I talked to them yesterday and let them know I'd purchased the used front driveline and was going to replace it myself. I only asked that they let me trade out the original driveshaft once the replacement arrived. They told me absolutely not and said it had to still be in the truck for them to change out. It also had to "look like it hadn't been tampered with". Are you kidding me, it's that hard to change out a driveshaft. I'm sure they don't want to just swap out the part because they want to bill Ford for the labor.

As previously mentioned, I haven't hardly driven the truck for two months for fear of the driveshaft letting go and causing more damage. In my opinion I was going out of my way to come to a reasonable resolution. I also spent $300 on a used driveline and didn't ask them for any reimbursement even though they couldn't supply a replacement in a reasonable amount of time under warranty. I also was going to do all the labor myself and obviously would have signed any release stating the same. Since unbolting a driveline is so technical, did they offer to change it out until the replacement was available? Of course not.

Final conversation was with the service manager, he was a putz just like the service writer and just regurgitated the same line "it has to be still in the truck and not tampered with". They just think they can use the covid (dog ate my homework lol) excuse and just string people along. Good luck to them with that, everyone will remember the companies that actually tried to provide some semblance of customer service when this is all over with.

Get a lawyer. at this point, the stealership has put Ford in violation of the warranty by not repairing the vehicle. If you can source the part, they can too. Unfortunately, they won’t respond until or unless you get more forceful.
I’d open a case with ford c/s first.
advise them they have 2 business days to bring the stealership to heel, - and that means they have the part and it’s scheduled to be replaced the next day, OR, it’s buy back time ( or you sue under the lemon law ).

You could have designed a part, sourced a vendor, gotten both a beta test part, mic’d it, QA tested it, and implemented it into production in this amount of time.

The only reason I think I'm getting updates is because the dealership left me with no loaner for 2 weeks and no updates. So I called Ford customer service and they created a case. My rep is the one that got me into a vehicle the day before Thanksgiving. Best of luck. Fords customer service # 1-800-392-3673.

I'm with @smurfslayer on this. Time to escalate and hold the dealership accountable. COVID or not, they've failed to at least give you updates without you having to force it out of them. I would get the big blue oval on your side and then look through your state's lemon law requirements because I can guarantee you that dealership doesn't want to go through that process (even if you're bluffing).

You can also hit them with negative reviews/questionnaires. *Some* dealer's really care about those and it may help illicit the response you're looking for.

Man, I have been waiting 12 weeks now on my King shocks that I ordered through SVC. They told me it was gonna be about 10 weeks because of Covid delays. I asked if Fox would be faster but they said Fox was about a 16 week wait. So pretty much delays are everywhere
