It's a big hunk of plastic, you would think they would have the sense to mold it to fit around shit?

Can anyone give me a simple explanation of the difference between Volant and Roush CAI? Larger air passage in the CAI........? Street\Offroad, quiet\loud? I'd like to have that sweet sound along with the best offroad system. Im new to all of this, so please help me out

Roush I don't think is recommended offroad. HTTP://www.fordraptorforum.com/f178/disappointing-email-roush-12745/ it's not enclosed too, so its not drawing cool air in. 1239_2010_2012_f150_raptor_roush_cold_air_intake_2.jpg
Volant is as bulletproof to stock as you can get. True cai. Enclosed. Offroad capabilities backed by people who offroad hard on these forums. Deep sound, not as loud as open element boxes. Powercore filter will not let ANY dust in your engine, ever.

Not a salesman, just have been tricked by Hennessy and had all sorts of dust get into my engine and that ******* thing would break every other day and only work well when it was cold under the hood. :gay:

[QUOTE Anyone wrap their intake tube to prevent heat? Mine gets super freakin hot.QUOTE]

Yes, I have. (Didn't use the gold stuff. Kinda blingy.) I did it as part of my AIRAID installation. Doesn't matter what intake you run, the intake tube gets quite warm. Next time you come home from going somewhere in your Rapter, pop the hood and put your hand on the intake tube. You will believe.

Yup,I have, that's why I asked :) does the wrap keep the tube cool? Any insight?

A CAI is not going to increase air flow the only way to increase air flow is to increase the size of the MAF and the TB... Or pressurize the system this is the only way to increase air flow. You can have a 90mm TB and a 90mm MAF and a 200mm tube you will only flow as much as the 90mm will allow.
So, you can have the largest air passage in the world it aint gonna flow more air.
What these systems do is give you a different sound, a very small amount of HP(if not drawing underhood air), the ability to add a filter sock for removing fine dust and thats it oh and they look pretty too... most draw intake air from under the hood which reduces HP in slower city driving. They will help HP once the hot under hood air is cleaned out and you start driving steady and not stopping but as soon as you slow down and the heat builds up under the hood you are loosing HP.

So it sounds like the new Volant with the Donaldson power-core filter is the way to go if you wanna protect your engine and still have quality.......?

After seeing the bully dog its the best one to use...
RFI Ford 6.2L Raptor '12-'13
That would not be correct!
The Volant increases the diameter of the opening to the fender well.
The BD system compensates for the OEM restrictive opening by having an additional opening to the engine compartment (hot air)
The new Volant adds an additional opening that takes air from the front of the radiator (cold air)
And the Donaldson filter is unbeatable!
