All I have to say is lol. Your making it sound MUCH worse than it is. The city street queen comment really made me laugh.

When it rattles the interior panels it's a issue!

I,m leaving tomorrow for San Felipe towing a 4000# Four seat pre-runner, with all the crap we need to take down I will probably be close to 8500# and it's a seven hour drive.
No boy toy want to be race truck here, when I get there I don't want to be fatigued listening to a resonance from a intake that give's me 10 more RWHP. I need to save my strength for the San Felipe Bars after the Race

I'm just saying it sounds like your sensationalizing it. I have the Volant too, and I have yet to notice it rattling the interior. Like you, I am not a "boy toy want to be race truck." Our Trophy Truck is our race truck. I have had my truck loaded and lugged down too, and still have never experienced it the way you make it seem. We also must drive 20 or so hours to every race.

What causes the resonance, buzz, or little rattle that some experience. Just wondering if it could be tracked down then it could be eliminated. Sounds to me like its coming from the passenger side upper trim. I had the same issue in a 64 Corvette that had a buzz noise at certain RPM and tracked it down to a trim peace in the rear and solved the annoying problem.

My aFe produces the same low rpm resonance as well as the buzz felt in the gas paddle. This isnt a volant unique issue, put your stock upper plenum back on like the guy above if that's a concern.

I won a new volant, will be swapping it in soon

Maybe this is something with the new design. I have the original and like I said, I've never noticed a resonance.

Get a clue! A sensor is a sensor! It does not know the diameter of the tube it is places in to. You can place it in to any air stream and it will react to it.
It takes the computer to make an interpretation of the sensors output.
In this particular case the computer compares the information of the air in to the quality of the gases out and adjusts the amount of fuel needed to get the result it has been told to achieve (Yes I know there is more information that the computer uses)

Ehh, good video, but I didn't buy for better engine performance. I bought for better filter performance. What o mean is I bought because I firmly believe the Donaldson filter is better than the stock

Lot of people on this forum do NOT want to believe their Snake Oil intake doesn't actually work. I don't think efforts to change their minds is worth it. :frown:

That video is far from conclusive. Its not always just the filter, it can be a restrictive tube in the factory setup. also, they did not do any tuning to see if they could do better. if the engine is getting more air, you could adjust the fuel map and timing.

this was also on a boosted application with an intercooler. they were also only switching out the very end of the intake tube, and the filter. with that type of system you prob wont see much of a change over stock. especially with a newer filter. there are many reasons to go with a CAI, better filtration, better intake tubing on some, doesn't get as clogged up as easy, ect.

I know on my race car (drag car) we did some testing of a velocity lip on the supercharger, and it made a ton of power. i know thats not the same thing, but its all about how to get the most air to the engine, then tune for that.

that being said, not all vehicles have a bad system, so its not universal to get increases over a stock system. but its also not universal to say that you won't, and I have seen it time and time again on the dyno.
