Here's something I was pondering about, but don't know if it will work, anyone chime in because I don't know, just a thought.
What if you could get your hands on a new ecm from say a wrecked raptor from a salvage yard/junk yard, can you just tune the shit out of your truck, and if a problem happens, just swap out the ecm that never been modded/tuned?

It would not be a new ECM from a wrecked Raptor at a salvage junk yard.

Nick, I only asked because I dont know if the ECM's have codes that match up to the as built or vin of the truck, if it will work then I would tune the secound one, and never touch mine. If it will work, then Im going to have my buddy who runs a salvage yard snatch one up for me

Again just a thought, I dont know what it would intail changing it out, hard, easy, location, just fun when you could beat the system, god knows ford dont want to fix anything for free, for anyone.

Not sure about these trucks but I know it would of worked on my last GMC, from what I heard anyway. My guy that tuned my last truck was like a mad scientist and knew how to do lots of vehicles and knew lots of tricks. I actually bought the ecm from him and he custom tuned it while I drove around for 1 1/2 hours. Too bad he is a GM gas guy only. His tunes are great!

If it slides out of the fire wall like a hard drive, or was in the kick panels, wouldn't be hard at all, worth the time if it saves you money, and fools them.

Unfortunately the PCMs are coded to the trucks VIN#

And it's two stud bolts and slides right out. But you would have to break it open if you wanted to see inside.

If the ecm's are anything like the Kenworth's at our dealer, they store the mileage in there too. So your mileage would be off. I know on the big trucks that the odometer could say one thing but the ecm will give the actual mileage stored in it.

hi

HI there. Is anyone aware of friendly mod dealers in southern Cali. Im in los angeles. Even if I had to drive a distance, it might be worth it if I had some serious issue. Thanks.
