For anyone who's put their radio in the center console, I'm curious how you routed the wires? I am installing a Yaesu FT-7900 in my 2013 screw, with the face separation kit. The radio body is going into the console. I have the USB/SD card/AV module in the front of the console. The coax routing is nearly done - it is coming from the back, so my thought is to drill a small hole in the passenger side floor of the console cargo area, taking care to avoid the flow-through vents below. The cable can be routed up from the carpet area through the bolt access cutout on the rear wall of the console.

The power wires are where I'm struggling. I see some folks pull the 12V accessory socket and run them through the hole - do you need to remove the entire console to get that socket out? I can always drill more, but trying to minimize holes. Thanks for any suggestions.

Check out how I ran the power. Instead if coming out under the passenger seat just continue it into the console. Power should always come directly from the battery.

I have the FT-7900. I mounted the main unit behind the rear seat and used an all weather fastener for the head unit.

I lifted up the small piece of carpet on the console floor, then drilled a 3/4" hole all the way thru the console floor (several layers). My antenna wire came up thru that hole and into the radio. My power and mic cables went down thru that hole. I ran power all the way to the battery, passing thru the firewall on the way.

The cables run under the console towards the front of the truck. I did remove the console - well I unscrewed everything enough to slide the console backwards and then lift the back of the console high enough to guide the wires.

I plan to run my external speaker's wire thru that same hole in the near future.

You could easily remove all the wires and glue down that small piece of carpet if you ever sell the truck. It would cover up the hole nicely.

Thanks for all the replies. For now I'm using a cup holder mount for the face unit (Mount Guys) which attaches to the FT-7900's separation kit bracket. I'll tackle the rest of the install this weekend and post some pics eventually if it turns out ok. iSurvive, thanks for the description of what you did - that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. Where did you drill your hole in the console floor?
