Whats up guys. I assume this will be a new place to consume entirely too much of my life up! I just purchased a 2011 Oxford White SCREW today.... but didnt take delivery. Here's how it went down....
I live in Nederland TX, which is about 90 miles east of Houston. (close to the LA border off of I-10) Last week we experienced some rare weather for the area (mostly frozen percipitation and icey roads). Spent most of the day Friday locked up in the house. Saturday rolled around and it started to warm up. I started gettting cabin fever. I told the bride to load up little man and lets go ride around. After riding around for awhile, I figure that I need to stop and look at new vehicles. (I have been wanting to trade my 09 F250 on a 11 F250). I pull up to a dealer in Silsbee TX. They have a 2011 Oxford White SCREW that catches my attention. I go to look at the Superduty's but I can't keep my eyes off the Raptor. We piddle around and a salesman ups me and starts asking questions. I tell him that Im really killing time but I was interested in the Raptor and what the price was on it. I walk over there and the sticker lists $53015.00. Then I look over at an additional sticker beside it that says "Market Adjustment" +$4995.00. This immediately turns me away. I shake the mans hand and we head back to the house.
I then decided to do a little research on this forum about them and why they bring the extra markup. I start reading, and reading, and reading... before long this Raptor has consumed me. This freaking truck is awesome. I guess its more interesting to me because I have owned two Superdutys in the last 3 years (Getting burned out). So the following Monday I head back up there to speak with the salesman. He takes me for a test drive (bad idea....cause Im really in love now) and we get back to the dealership to work numbers. He comes back at full sticker with the markup and pretty much insults me with the number on my trade. I tried to do as much homework on both my trade and the Raptor. I had a good idea what invoice was and where a fair price was for the trade. Needless to say, he and the GM were not moving an inch. He said that this was as good as it gets. With that, I left and decided that it wasnt worth $60,000 for the truck.
As most would be, I was pretty dissapointed. I get home that evening and start playing on the ol Macbook. I start looking up inventory one dealer at a time to see if anyone else has any Raptors. Nobody local (50 Miles) has one besides the one I drove. So, I started looking at the Houston Dealerships. I ran across a few that had some. I then stumbled onto Lone Star Ford on 45 in Houston. To my surprise they had the EXACT truck I just looked at.
I read that some have been getting better deals by going through the Fleet/Commercial/Internet guys instead of through the floor sales. I click on the "get internet price" button and enter my info. Within 10 minutes, I get an email from a salesman with Lone Star. "Mr. Phillips, we can sell you this Raptor for $49700.00 + TTL" Hmmm this is a step in the right direction. I email him back and let him know that I want to set up an appointment. He says that he will be out Tuesday but will be in at 9am on Wednesday. I met him first thing this morning.
After about 4 hours of the EASIEST, most comfortable negotiations ever, we agree on numbers. The kicker is though that, the truck is still in transit and hasnt made it to the dealership yet. Its stuck on a railcar in Illinoise and is being held up because of the weather.
Hopefully I should have it in my possesion early next week. So thats my story and here is probably the most important thing of all: The details on the truck!
2011 F-150 Super Crew
6.2L V8
Oxford White

I ended up purchasing the truck for $48550.00. (which I thought was a decent deal for not ordering). I traded in my 09 F250 which is pictured below.
Anyways, sorry for the long post. Like I said, hopefully I can get some pics up as soon as I take delivery. Also, I'm chompin at the bit to gets some mods done to this thing. I look forward to sharing and learning as much as I can here!!!!
